Yeah I still like our odds of getting a bye. I think either the Bears beat the Packers or the Eagles lose to the cowboys. I know their 3rd stringer is in there, I just have a feeling.

Man I wish we could replay those Seahawks and Redskins games with our offense playing the way it is now with the adjustments Martz made. I have no doubt we'd have beaten them both but especially that disastrous redskins game. We could already have wrapped up a bye and challenging for HFA.

Oh well it was those two games that made us reinvent our offense during the bye week.

Gonna be fun. Everyone and their brother is gonna be picking the Pack all week long. Bears are gonna have plenty of material to make them feel like the "underdog" this week.

Possible Bears scenarios for next week:

Clinch 1 seed with:

- ATL loss v NO + CHI win v GB + ATL loss v CAR + NO loss v TB + PHI loss v MIN OR DAL

Clinch 2 seed with:

- CHI win

- PHI loss v MIN OR DAL

3 seed with:

- CHI loss + PHI win x 2

If Atlanta wins tomorrow and Philly loses Tuesday, the Bears are locked into the 2 seed and next week's game is meaningless (for them).

It'd be kind of funny if that happened and then Washington beat the Giants while the Saints beat the Bucs making this game meaningless period.

EDIT:Didn't see the Giants game was moved too.

Dline didnt do much today. Reminded me of last couple years defenses. Allowed Sanchez to actually look like a good nfl qb. Very disappointing how well jets ran their O. On the other hand the Bears offense is just getting better. Running well and passing well. Man if Cutler could get time like this every game, they would shred people.

The other interesting game next week could be Tampa-New Orleans, which if the Saints lose tomorrow is an elimination game.

Anybody else thinking that the #2 seed is probably preferable to the #1 seed at this point? The #1 seed may well have to face either GB or NYG in the 2nd round. The #2 seed wouldn't see them until the NFC Championship game. In fact, as I've mentioned before, it's possible (though obviously unlikely) that the #1 seed would be playing GB or NYG while the #2 seed gets the NFC west winner...heh.

Obviously that assuming no NFC south craziness.

Isn't it just taken for granted that the NFC West team is going to get smoked by a WC?

Yeah...I said it was unlikely... :)

I'm just amused by the scenario.

It's also still possible that both the Packers and Giants make the playoffs if the Bears lose next week. I'd rather they just win and let the other teams do what they may.

There's also a potential scenario that earns Tampa Bay the 5 seed, so a 1 seed could potentially face the NFC West/Tampa winner.

Which would be Atlanta in that scenario, but hey.

So with the time change, the Bears will know by the time they take the field (or shortly thereafter) whether they need to win to secure the bye, assuming they don't clinch before then.

And I don't care how bad the Seahawks are, a playoff game at Qwest is nothing to scoff at.

Of course, the Bears don't have to be concerned about a playoff game at Qwest this year.

And there's no way they'd lose at home to the Seahawks....again...

Yes, the Eagles will have played 2 games between now and the time the Bears next play.

Something interesting I just saw: Matt Forte is the first 100-yard rusher allowed by the Jets in 22 games.

Also for next week, Forte needs 22 rush yards to reach 1,000 while Knox needs 40 receiving yards to reach 1,000.

I believe it would be the first time the Bears have had both an 1,000 yard rusher and receiver in the same season since Booker and A-Train back in 2001.

Also, in the "meaningless to everyone but me" stats, if the Bears win next week, while the Dolphins and Steelers lose, the Bears will finish the season with the single best road record in the NFL.

I also think there's a decent, though certainly not overwhelming, chance that the Eagles drop a game, giving the Bears the bye.

It could happen. The Eagles came back on the suddenly shaky Giants, but they also needed to come back because they were getting beat down by them. The Packers handled that same team pretty much all game.
