That's another reason why I just hope they fire him immediately after this season if we don't make the playoffs. I don't think it makes any sense to keep him employed where he knows he's fired if he has a bad season.

 

Besides 2007, we usually get off to slow starts under McCarthy and I don't really see how that would help if we got off to another one next season.

Peter King just was talking about how John Fox won't be back because they don't want an expensive coach. He said they would hire a young, aggressive defensive coordinator at 1/3 the price. Then two sentences later when Patrick asked him if they would definitely take Luck he said yes and they would get a young offensive minded coach.

Playoffs should not be the benchmark. This team should make the playoffs by sleep walking through the season. The benchmark is Super Bowls. The Packers have a Super Bowl roster, but they don't have the man at the top to get them there.

 

I think along with Dallas the GB job would be the most attractive to a Gruden or Cowher. Go out, hit the home run, come home with the Lombardi.

That's another strike against MM. He's never made the playoffs in back-to-back years in Green Bay, which is pretty unacceptable.

 

If we're going to fire Ray Rhodes for not making the playoffs in one season and Mike Sherman for not making the playoffs after reaching them in four consecutive years, McCarthy better not last much longer.

When healthy, I would say it is. The defensive depth has shown to be outstanding.

Yeah, I heard him say that and just thought he meant an offensive coordinator in regard to Luck, but that does sound weirder now that I'm seeing it in print.

There's a reason why a significant amount of experts picked the Pack to reach the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season. It'll be interesting to see how GB's defense handles the Pats tonight.
