I wouldn't give them that pick, nor do I think we would have to considering what we would have to give up in order to match salaries.

Jordan's kind of a front office buffoon how bout Deng for Jackson and Kwame.

Though really that doesn't help that much. I just don't see why Charlotte is taking Brewer, Bogans, and Johnson for Jackson.

I'd rather give up the Charlotte pick than give up Taj, since both Noah and Boozer are injury-prone guys. And that's knowing that we have to get rid of Taj eventually, unless we want to pay him an extremely high salary to be a backup. Alot can change over the next few years for any franchise, so that pick may have as much value right now as it ever does, for all we know......

In the end though, I'm not giving up either that pick OR Taj for Stephen Jackson until I've beaten down the walls trying to find something that's more likely to turn us into a title contender than this move would. If there's nothing else, I guess I'd move the pick. This is probably the Bulls last shot at adding a major piece until Deng's contract becomes an asset to us, instead of a hindrance.

is the pick protected? the bulls could conceivably end up with terrence jones next year if it's not and they keep it.

Chicago Bulls: Receives 2012 first-round pick (lottery-protected in 2012, top-12 protected in 2013, top-10 in 2014, top-8 in 2015, unprotected in 2016) from the Charlotte Bobcats via the Tyrus Thomas trade on 2/18/10.

Given how miserable that franchise is with no hope in sight, I could very well see us with a top 3 pick come 2016.

They're just one of those teams that probably will always be bad...especially with Elgin Baylor Part II in charge.

It would take a boatload of patience to hold on to that pick for that long, but Charlotte does seem pretty hopeless.

Dammit it makes me sad to see Gortat and JRich possibly switching teams in the same trade. Both would be AMAZING pickups for us. I've pined for JRIch all season and was hoping we could pry him away from Phx as the season went along. If he goes to Orlando hes not going anywhere. Richardson would be the perfect SG to compliment Rose IMO. Gortat would also be an awesome pickup to help ease the loss of Noah. Since he'd be going to hopeless looking phoenix in the trade maybe we can get him at some point.

The probability of that pick meaning something is so so tiny, that its value is much better to other teams in a trade than it is to us. If you look at the last 5 years, the only teams to not make the playoffs over that time are the Knicks and TWolves. The Knicks will probably make it this year, which would be the "unprotected" year for the pick. So you are hoping Charlotte is the Twolves. But not only that you have to hope that they arent a borderline playoff team in any of those years. Then you have to hope that they dont improve enough to be decent with 5 straight high lottery picks.

The odds are just so low. If someone is asking for that pick as a necessity for a player that would help us long term, I wouldnt hesitate to throw it in.

You act as though it only means something if it's a fully unprotected lottery pick.

Well why am I turning down trades hoping for the 9th pick of the draft 5 years from now? You aren't. If the Bulls were doing everything possible to avoid trading that pick, its because of the small chance that they can get a top 5 pick 6 years from now. Otherwise, who the hell cares about the 15th pick 3 years from now or whatever.

I agree. To me, it looks like the Bulls have 2 big moves available to use over the next 3 seasons to turn this team into a champion. They have the ability to move JJ/Taj/picks this year for an upgrade at the 2 and they'll eventually have Deng as an expiring to use as a major chip in a few years. They'll also be able to sign a couple of mid-level exception-types as well over that period. So, while I want to see a nice 2 traded for this year, if it doesn't happen, I'll understand. I wasn't expecting this team to truly compete THIS year anyway, just make strides towards doing that, and they're doing it.

I forgot this was VDN's return to Chicago.

I cringe every time Rose gets fouled hard or falls.

Nice recovery by the team after a horrible start by the Bulls. Damn, Brewer got that to Rose too late. Would have been nice for a buzzer-beater dunk.

This game on outside Chicago?

I don't think so. It's not on the Superstation. I'm getting the Clipper broadcast here in the LA area.

Yeah I checked all the usual channels. Looks like one of those WCIU local-only deals.

*sigh*

this is very discouraging

The biggest problem with the Noah injury is the depth behind him - Gibson has only played 3 minutes. Admittedly, Asik hasn't played bad but yeah, that's my biggest concern.

Geez, Asik and Gibson with 3 fouls.

And Rose has been sloppy.
