Pretty sure that's not the case. You can't be D1 football in one conference and D1 other sports in a conference that has D1 football.

 

The Big East was the one who wanted TCU as football only, and TCU bargained to be in all sports, rather than get stuck in the MVC (or wherever) for their non-football sports.

The TCU to Big East basketball move will not be as complicated as it appears. The league schedule is likely to change from three opponents you play twice in league play to just two. The conference tournament is a weird situation, but it wouldn't be that difficult to arrange a 17/16 play-in game at the home of 16.
