Off to my worst enemy, a shootout. I believe the Coyotes have won the last few shootouts we've had against them, dating back to last year. I know the last time we played Phoenix, we also lost in a shootout.

Crawford's just like Niemi when it comes to shootouts. He's awesome at them.

He played great today in the 3rd, OT and the shootout. I missed the 2nd period so I don't know how many of those goals were his fault.

Apparently they're all yours for not watching.

He didn't really have a chance with the ones on the PK. The even-strength goal was a result of Crawford being double-screened by his own teammates. He had no idea where the puck was when Phoenix shot it.

Damn, Colorado and St. Louis didnt do their jobs, so Anaheim and Calgary get 2 huge points each.

Calgary jumps ahead of us in points by 1, but we have 2 games in hand over them. This is how 4-12 looks right now:

               GP PTS
4. Phoenix 64 76
5. Los Angeles 62 74
6. Calgary 64 73
7. Chicago 62 72
8. Dallas 62 72
----------------------
9. Minnesota 62 72
10.Nashville 63 72
11.Anaheim 63 71
12.Columbus 61 68

all the teams fighting for those playoff spots win every day. and when they play each other, it always goes to OT so even the loser still gets a point. it's really annoying.

I'm starting to expect that this team is going to win, but last night was frustrating. If the Hawks from the 1st period are what we are getting down the stretch, they'll get the 4th seed and be a huge threat in April and May. If it's the 2nd/3rd period Hawks, they still probably get into the playoffs, but it will be a struggle and they won't get far.

And Michael Frolik. Talk about frustrating. Dude makes a sick move, gets in point blank and can't bury it. I heard someone on the telecast say last night that he's snakebit, and once he breaks through, he'll score in bunches. He better.

Also, it's trade deadline day. A center and a 5/6 defenseman are on Stan's shopping list.

I didn't see the game from beginning to end, but as I recall, there were a few guys yesterday that made great moves and got point blank shots they couldn't bury.

Frolik reminds me a lot of, well, Jack Skille. He puts himself in position to get the puck to the net, but he doesn't know how to bury his chances. Stalberg's the same way too.

Skille doesn't have that move Frolik put on last night. And you're right about Stalberg. That guy is so fast sometimes, it makes me think he's loafing it the rest of the time.

The Edmonton Journal reports: Sources say the Blackhawks are pursuing a trade for defenseman Ladislav Smid of the Edmonton Oilers, who are thought to be seeking defenseman Nick Leddy or another high-end prospect in return.

I completely agree about Stalberg. I'll watch him and see nothing special. Just your average 3rd-4th line winger. And then randomly I'll see him fly up the ice, make up a ton of ground and catch up to a puck before icing is called. And I wonder where that speed is all game.

If they trade Leddy for Smid...nevermind, they wouldn't do that.

They can seek Leddy all they want. He's basically untouchable, IMO.

I wouldn't go that far. But if the return is a minus defenseman (on a bad team, admittedly) with no goals this year, then yes, he's untouchable.

Give up Connelly or Lalonde first.

Campoli and a conditional 7th round pick to CHI for Ryan Potulny and conditional 2nd roudn pick. [via Twitter]

an overpay, but hard to argue he's not a clear upgrade over Boynton

Chris Campoli?
Good puck mover. good skater, which everyone on Chicago is. Competes very hard, good character guy, so he will be a good depth defenseman for the Hawks. Again the fifth and sixth defenseman for Chicago only has to play 10 to 15 minutes a game.

Yeah I'm on board with this. They can live without Potulny, and this type of move was made absolutely necessary by Hendry's injury last night.

I wonder if he can make it to Minny tonight and suit up. Otherwise, unless Hendry is back in there, it's either Scott or Cullimore for the 6th defense spot. Yuck.

Blackhawks official twitter just said he won't play tonight.
