Dallas lost again tonight (to LA though). I think they are just about done. 5 points back with 5 to go. Hawks just need 5 points in their last 5 to eliminate them.

San Jose is playing Anaheim right now which is a big game for seeding. Anaheim is 1 point ahead of us for 7th with equal number of games played (1 more after tonights game)

We still have a pretty good chance to get a 5 seed or even maybe a 4. Nashville is 3 points ahead of us for 6th but 2 more games played, Phoenix is 4 points ahead, also with 2 more games. LA is 4 points ahead of us for 4th, but only 1 more game played, so we'd need some help for that 4 seed.

Going to my first Blackhawks game tomorrow against the Lightning (and then the Cubs game on Monday). Should be a fun game, it was the last time they played.

I think it is going to be real fun. Tampa is a great team to watch and the Hawks will probably skate with them. Should be some real fun up and down the ice action. Just the type of game that the NHL should get on National TV. Oh well I am sure the Rangers/Flyers will be dull...oops I mean exciting

Yeah the last time they played the Blackhawks I was surprised by how physical they were. You know they're fast and breakout and can score but they're fairly tough too, or at least have been when I've seen them.

Anaheim vs. Dallas tonight. Who should we cheer for? If we win or at least get a point tonight I'll probably be cheering for Dallas. If we get nothing tonight then I'm not sure. Anaheim is 1 point ahead of us for 7th and we have 1 game in hand I believe. Dallas is 5 points behind us for the last spot and even in games played.

lol wow....TB goalie plays the puck in the restricted zone...the ref is looking right at him, puts the whistle to his mouth and......doesn't call a penalty. Replays shows he clearly played it where he wasn't supposed to. Would have been nice to have a PP oh well

I swear, the Hawks are the only team that gets delay of game penalties, and they get them like every game. They have 2 today alone. I cannot remember the last time our opponent batted one out of their defensive zone for a penalty.

Annnnnnnnnnd....the Hawks get shut out on their home ice 2-0. Very very frustrating.

Team is really missing Sharp and Bolland. Just 13 goals in their last 8 games, including 3 shutouts. Prior to this 8 game stretch, they were only shut out 1 other time all year.

Hawks outshot the Lightning 31-14 in the loss.

Looks like the 8th seed will be our destiny if we can hang on.

They should still make the playoffs but at this point I don't see them coming close to pulling off an upset in a series. Than again, hockey playoffs are weird so the Hawks could easily make a run. Plus, we'd have to have some kind of a mental edge over Vancouver if that's who we end up playing.

So Dallas wins tonight in regulation, and closes the gap to 3 points with 4 games remaining for each team. Anaheim remains a point up with 3 games left for them.

Remaining schedule:

Chicago: @ MON, vs. STL, @ DET, vs. DET

Dallas: vs. CBS, vs. COL, @ COL, @ MIN

Anaheim: vs. SJ, vs. LA, @ LA

I'm guessing Dallas gets 7 points from that schedule, the Hawks 4 from theirs, and Anaheim 3. That would leave all 3 teams tied. If that were the case, here is how the tiebreakers look:

Regulation wins:

Anaheim: 40

Chicago: 36

Dallas: 34.

Dallas will likely win 3 if not 4 of their last 4 games (if they are in a position where they are tied with the Hawks that is), but who knows if they will be in regulation, so the Hawks need to probably win 2 games in regulation to feel good about winning that tiebreaker.

Head to head % against each other:

Chicago 1-2-1, 3/8 points

Dallas 3-1-0, 6/8 points

Dallas wins there and goes to the playoffs while the Hawks sit out.

According to Sportsclubstats.com, the Hawks entered today with a 96.4% chance of making the playoffs. After tonight, the odds drop down to 86.5%. Also, Calgary won tonight, keeping their slim hopes alive. They are 1 point back of the Hawks with only 2 games left to play. Hawks need 4 points in their last 4 to ensure the Flames are not a factor.

Can someone tell me how many times the Hawks have been shut out at home this year?

That game was so dumb. They got one power play goal and were gutless the rest of the way. Sit in the neutral zone some more you pussies. 14 [expletive] shots or some such nonsense.

This was the 4th shutout of the season, 2nd at home.

Like I said, 3 shutouts in our last 8 games, only one all season before that. Offense is offensive right about now.

Hawks are just 5-5-2 since their 8 game winning streak ended.

That 8 game winning streak is looking more and more like an anomaly. They've largely been a .500 team all season long despite that winning streak and as soon as the streak ends, they've gone back to a .500 team.

It would sure be nice if we had Sharp ready to go in Montreal. The worst part about our losses is that it seems like we can't even get a point out of them. Meanwhile, the competing teams in the playoff race seem like they're getting at least a point more often than not. All I wanted last night was to get a point and we couldn't accomplish that. Frustrating.

Blackhawks 1 year reign of Central Division champions is over as the Red Wings clinched last night. Stanley Cup reign will surely be ending sometime soon as well :(

Congrats on beating out a team with their 3rd string QB in most of the year. Wait, wrong rivalry.

Congrats on beating out a team struggling with major injuries most of the year :) I believe that's the congrats we got from Red Wings fans last year. Then we won the Cup.
