Maybe an example of why the Hawks are having trouble making the playoffs this year?

 

Sometimes it sort of seems like a lot of these guys aren't all that interested this year, not that I 100% blame them.

 

But then, Kane played a pretty good game the other night. Lots of hard work on the backcheck and in the defensive zone.

Yeah after I posted this, I thought I might get a little flack for implying that going out and partying is not allowed for a pro athlete or something.

 

But the reason I brought it up is that the Hawks don't seem to be playing at the ability level we've seen in the past. Even without the players we lost, I don't think we should be in 11th place in the conference with 25 games to go. I'm not saying everyone else is going out drinking every night and missing practice, but essentially showing this as an example that certain guys just don't seem to be 100% focused on the team. Going out and drinking is fine and frankly awesome. But getting drunk and missing 2 days of practice is not acceptable.

 

(I should say also, there is no proof that the pictures are really from sunday, and even if they were there's no proof that Kane had a hangover which caused him to miss 2 days of practice. I'm just going off what was implied).

Hawks won the next game and the game after that he had a 3-pt game, his hangover seemed sort of immaterial, if you ask me

If there's concern building over Kane's off-ice behavior, it's not because he's changed.

 

He was doing this all last year. We all saw the pictures. One night in Vancouver in particular stands out...

 

Anyway, when the Hawks were winning it was boys will be boys.

 

Now they aren't, so it's hey, Kane's out of control.

 

And this type of "perception cycle" (for lack of a better term) is something that happens over & over in the world of sports.

This is frustrating. Hawks are dominating Pittsburgh, which isn't surprising since they are without Cindy and Malkin, but only up 1-0.

Every game feels like a must win these days. Again with this weird afternoon game here today.

 

Blues had a stupid good game Saturday night, albeit against a struggling Ducks team. Hoping for a letdown.

Today is Presidents Day. There's actually people that get today off. I don't know who they are, but apparently there are people that do. Anyway, I'm sure that's the reason for the afternoon game.

Oddly enough we could be tied with 4 other teams for the 7th and 8th spots in a matter of hours (not to mention 5 points off the 3 seed in the West).

I know, my office is closed. Which doesn't stop me from sitting in my office already this morning, just means none of our support staff are here. Which renders me quite useless. I would go downtown for the game if all of my bum friends weren't whining about having too much work to do and can't take a few hours off.
