Heck yeah.

That's 3 of the 4 points available this weekend. I'll take that.

Just picked up the highlights on the NHL network. What a [expletive] move by Bolland. Bickell had a couple nice plays too.

First of all, its rather odd that the Hawks have 5 full days off in the middle of the season and it's not the All Star Break. I know it happens occasionally but it never feels right.

Second of all, good move for the Hawks/Flyers game to be moved from 3PM to 11:30AM on Sunday. That move was made on January 5th, but it probably would have happened at some point due to the Bears game. I don't know who in Chicago would choose to goto a Blackhawks regular season game instead of going to or watching the Bears/Packers NFC Championship game. Now, its set up to be an amazing doubleheader. At 11:30, we have a rematch of the Stanley Cup Finals last year, and that game will get over exactly at 2 when the Bears game starts. I wish the game started at 11 or the Bears game started at 3. That would be an awesome Chicago sports doubleheader to attend.

I was going to sell my Hawks-Flyers tickets, but now I'll at least have a chance to go to that.

Cornelison singing at 11:20 and 1:50, big day. I'll be in a Windsor (going to the Hawks @ Wings game on Saturday) sportsbook with a bachelor party.

I don't think Cornelison is doing it this week. I thought I read it was some American Idol guy or something.

It is. FOX gets to pick the singer.

That has been changed. The Idol guy has been moved to halftime and Cornelison will sing the National Anthem again.

Really nice showing today.

It's always nice to play the Red Wings on 5 days of rest. Haha we looked great today. Hopefully we saved enough for tomorrow. It would be AWESOME to take 4/4 points over the best and 3rd best point teams in the league on back to back days. What a statement that would make to the NHL.

Hopefully Toews is ok, he wasn't on the ice since he got that stick in his midsection.

Really good game today. A little rough on the second PK -- they couldn't clear the zone, but the Wings are a very good puck control team as we all know. Plus at 4-1, they didn't have their foot on pedal.

Also, with that 5 day break, most of the rest of the league has caught up to us in games. In fact, before today's game, there were only 2 teams in the West that played less games than us, and only one of those teams (St. Louis) is in contention for a playoff spot. Which means that we're in 6th place in points, tied with Anaheim who has played 2 more games than us, and 1 point behind Phoenix, who has played as many games as us.

Also of course, just 8 points behind Detoilet. Hard climb but not impossible, especially with 3 more games against them.

On more note, with the results of today, the Hawks have a better point differential for the season than Detroit does (+23 to +21), and is 2nd in the west to Vancouver (+38)

I think the Hawks are much better than their record indicates. They were mediocre at best early in the season, but have really played well of late. Their record is beginning to pick up a bit, but doesn't wholly reflect how good the team has been. Some of the recent losses are to very good teams -- no matter how good you are, you are going to drop games and points to decent teams.

Here's the season so far by month:

Oct. 7-5-1

Nov. 7-6-1

Dec. 6-5-1

Jan. 6-2-1

The Hawks are 8 points out of first in the division and 2 points out of 4th (Nashville has a game in hand).

we are going to be very scary in the playoffs if we in fact manage to hold on. i'd like to get a high seed, obviously, but would also like to see the reaction in vancouver if they win the president's trophy and then draw us in the first round.
