Is it official that it is now less embarrassing to be a Nats fan then a Cubs fan?

They have a pretty good future. They've got Strasburg, assuming he stops Prioring up the place, Harper, and some pretty decent people in the front office. They could be respectable in a few years.

Without Strasburg's injury, I'd trade rosters/farm systems with them.

I thought Lou retired yesterday. Surely Quade is smarter than placing the guy who gets on base more than anyone in the 8th spot. And while I don't think Colvin is a serious contender for 1B next year, there is no reason for Xavier Nady to play there anymore. Let the kid play 1B to see if he can handle it.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I thought they announced a few different times that Colvin would be starting at 1B tonight? Maybe the experiment wasn't going so well?

I'm at the game. Pleasantly surprised that Coleman has a 1 hitter. The Nats staff led by Livan Hernandez looks like the Cubs middle relief tonight.

It looks like Mr. Coleman is doing his best to emulate another CC (despite the low strikeout numbers)! :hello: Hopefully, he doesn't fall apart and can pitch 2-3 more strong innings!

This game is worth it alone purely to watch Starlin's excellence. He's the player that reminds me I'm not watching the Iowa Cubs.

Nice outing for Cashner. Maybe he's putting it back together.

First outing in a while where he didn't look like he was overthrowing. He looked a lot smoother releasing the ball and it still got there at 95.

lol Harden left the game with a no-no, presumably due to pitch count. It's still going in 7th.
It's been mentioned in the other games thread. I'm sure it was pitch count (he gave up 5 walks and had 111 pitches, and it's his first game back off of the DL).

Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get Nady plenty of playing time to see if they wouldn't want to sign him back. If their intention is to move Fukudome then bringing back a healthy Nady could be a smart move.

100% agreed. Maybe they can get rid of Fuku and Nady if there's an injury or something. Can't imagine someone not taking a flyer on Nady for a bag of balls and some big league chew.

Still not sure why the Cubs seem so eager to drop Fukudome. .800 OPS outfielders with above average defense and smart base running don't grow on trees.
