Zack Greinke is kinda a crazy person. His comments do not exactly correlate to "the Royals better trade me" like it might for some other players. If they do end up shopping him, you'll probably see his value inflated by his 2009 that looks like a pretty extreme outlier right now. He's a great pitcher signed to a relatively team-friendly deal, but it's not so cheap that it'd be worth winning the bidding war for him and paying him 2/27.

Give em both up and pay their entire salary!

I know I'm being ridiculous, I just love me some Greinke.

I would give up a lot to get him though maybe not Cashner and definately not Castro, but I would be willing to gamble with the fact that Vitters may not turn out to be that great and even if he does I think Greinke would be just as valuable to the team. I know it would take more than that to get him but that would probably be where the conversation started. Besides, we are probably going to get a good pick this year to restock what we lose from Vitters. Its just hypothetical and probably best that I don't work for the Cubs, cause I really don't know what he would be worth, but I would really love to see him in a cub uniform.

I like Greinke alot and think of him as a guy who could be the actual anchor of our staff. But, his 2008 season was an outlier and probably going to make him cost more because of it. That said, if he could be had for a package including one of Wells or Gorz, Jay Jackson, and Colvin, I'd jump on it. I figure that package sounds very light, but if you look for what teams have given up recently in trades for major pitching help, I figure this fits right in line. If it was a prospect only package, I'd send them Jay Jackson and Vitters(if he's wanted by them, but with Hosmer at 1B and Moustakas at 3B, they'd be looking at Vitters as a LF would be my guess) along with a Rhee/Raley/Rusin type guy. Vitters' value seems awfully low right now, so they may not even want him at all. Which means we'd have to give up one of Lee, Archer, or McNutt, which would hurt, if you ask me.......

Bottom line, I'd love to have Greinke on our terms. But, if a team wants to outbid us, I'm not going "all-in" for him. Mainly because as a Cub fan, I could see him becoming a headcase almost immediately once he got here.

Should we be concerned about the social anxiety disorder?

I wonder if Josh Johnson will be available this offseason.

Greinke could completely lose it in Chicago, NY, or Boston. He almost needs to go to a Tampa type market, he is Milton Bradley types of crazy.

With that said I would love to get Billy Butler.

MLB trade rumors said the Marlins basically laughed at a team (Red Sox I think) when they called to check on his availability at the trade deadline. If by some chance he became available, it'd probably be for a massive amount.

Wrong, and not even remotely close.

Ok, Ricky Williams types of crazy.

more like kyle farnsworth-type crazy

but when they're white and crazy it's more like funny haha he's crazy we love our crazy white cubs right if they brown and crazy they belong in jail.

I would much rather use the prospects it will take to get Zach Greinke and throw them towards Adrian Gonzalez (that is if SD decides to trade him).

Yeah I would rather sign Cliff Lee and use the prospects somewhere else then go for Greinke. I would love to have Greinke too, but he will be very expensive in terms of prospects and still needs a long term contract and he is a nut job but now a nut job with a very hot wife.

I think Greinke will be made available this offseason, but I think it will take a pretty good package of young talent to get him. I'm thinking 3 top 15 type talents. From the Cubs perspective, my guess is it would take a package of Archer, Vitters/Lake, Rusin.

Nooo...trade Zambrano AND Fukudome for Greinke? You're crazy!

Maybe if we threw in Grabow they throw in Billy Butler.

I would draw the line at Koyie Hill though.

And frankly very offensive. If you don't have any understanding mental health issues, frankly, you shouldn't speak up about them.

Or, it could just be that Milton Bradley's issues are far different than Greinke's social anxiety.

I think the Rangers offered their top 3 prospects+ and the Marlins declined.

Yeah, even if he becomes available he'll cost way too much.
