I don't get it... what does "this is it" even mean? Why would anyone freak out over it like its gospel?

Like MJ's final tour, "This Is It" meant it would be his final tour. Favre texting someone "this is it" could very easily mean either "this is it - I am about to retire, good luck with Sage" or "this is it - this is my final season, lets win it all"

That's what I was saying on here from the afternoon it happened. No one ever reported that the text said anything beyond that.

I believe you meant to ask why anyone would pay the slightest attention to anything that Favre says at all.

^Right, I just don't get how ESPN can report what they did based on that stupid text and retain even the smallest shred of respectability they had left. Why does no one (jon stewart, letterman, nightly news, etc) call them out on it?

Because no one believes that Favre would commit this early and you really can't trust anything Favre says. Two preseason games haven't occurred yet and it is the first week of training camp. Rumor has it that last Monday the Vikings insisted Favre tell them if he is going to play this year. Favre got mad and said no and texted a few of his teammates in return. The Vikings got nervous and upped his salary and probably told the players who did receive the text not to really admit it.

Where are you getting these rumors from? Do you have voices in your head?

You already claimed Allen and Peterson admitted they received the texts when no such thing happened.

How do you know? Peterson admitted on video he got a text. It is perfectly understandable that the Vikings are telling him to keep quiet. I don't think Allen said he didn't receive a text. He said he would believe Favre is does when he sees it. Either way multiple sources are saying that Favre put out texts saying he was through.

WHERE IS THIS VIDEO? Can you please share it, because I know of no one else in the world who has seen such a thing. And I've been reading both Twin Cities papers every day while occasionally checking the message boards.

It was on Sports Center last Monday when the news broke. The only person who has ever denied the texting saga has been Brett Favre and he obviously can't be trusted. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/07/31/ap.insider/index.html

They were in practice when the news broke. It was afterwards that they had any reaction from the players and no one said they received the texts. There's no video anywhere online of it. Every Vikings message board I've seen has been asking who received them. The freaking local newspaper said they still can't figure out who received them and that NO ONE has admitted to it.

Yeah...and the Allen quotes are "I'll believe it when I see it" or something similar.

Im watching the Packers scrimmage on TV right now. I need a life.

Haha, you need a life? I went to the Packers scrimmage, and I'm a Bears fan!

Haha that is awesome. It was like what? 5 bucks?

Brian Cushing is such a victim. I can't wait to see the NFL reduce his suspension. Then Clemens, Bonds, etc. will come out saying, "yeah, I overtrained, too!"

It was $10, plus fees and such. I spent far more on beer than I did on the ticket. Went with my girlfriend's dad. He's a cool guy, even if he is a Packer fan. Fireworks were pretty cool afterwords too.
