I think it's clear that Lou doesn't take these teams seriously from todays lineup. And if thats the case he probably doesn't put much effort into preparing the team.

I'm just going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this was a joke.

I was going to respond to this, but you beat me to it. Thanx.

I hate when managers mail in a game by playing all of his backups in the same game. That said, the Cubs should have won today's game against a brutal pitcher. Just when you think the Cubs might turn the page, we all get kicked in the groin by this team. Frankly, I don't care who they dump (outside of Castro, Marmol, Bryd, Cashner, Soto and Colvin). See ya...

Give several guys an off day at once or spread the pain out over multiple games? I don't think there's a perfect answer. But Soto is banged up and the other guys who sat are older dudes that have been playing every day in the middle of the summer. One of the guys that was sitting, Lee, has sucked balls all year, and Soriano has been pretty mediocre all month long. Their hottest bats that were healthy (Ramirez and Castro) played, and the other guy, Byrd, is on pace to play more than he's ever played in his career.

Sorry, that was definitely tongue in cheek with maybe a hint of frustration.

When 4 of the 9 spots in the order belong to either a pitcher or a backup-calibur player, you have to mail it in every game.

I kind of like how they are just letting Bobby Howry go down in a ball of flames.

i don't think there's a more shining example of the cubs' incompetence than howry's continued presence on this team. he got released by the team with the worst bullpen in major league history, his numbers and velocity were all way down from what they were when he was good, and the cubs still signed him and have kept him around even though he's been awful.

speaking of awful, koyie hill's career line is .212/.277/.296. compare that to livan hernandez (.224/.234/.299), jason marquis (.202/.223/.296) and micah owings (.293/.323/.538/.861!!! maybe he should try this full-time)

If we just went an even 12-12 vs. those bums, were 4 games out of 1st. Stupid Cobs.

Here are some more fun stats for you guys. If you extrapolate how many runs yesterday's lineup would score over a full season (626) and the number of runs the Cub pitchers from yesterday's game would allow over a full season (826), the Pythagorean Win-Loss record would be 59-103. Personnel choices in yesterday's game was woeful, at best.
