Hes a fun kid to watch play

UH-OH.

What am I missing?

A windowless van? At least that's how I interpreted it.

Ok so it was something pretty stupid, I figured as much.

szczur went 3-4 with a double for boise.

i took a look through the game log and i think they must be underdoing the line drives. it says all three of his hits were "fly balls" and overall, there are only 6 line drives noted in a game that had 17 hits (along with the 51 outs). maybe szczur is just getting remarkably lucky so far, but i think it's more likely he's hitting the ball pretty hard and at that level, it's just calling everything ground balls or fly balls.

as another example, the leadoff hitter (alvaro ramirez) supposedly is hitting .353 with a 6.9 LD%.

And who is Corey Martin, appartently 2009s 27th round/830th pick, and how did he leapfrog everyone on earth from Peoria to Iowa? Looking at his numbers, he wasnt very good at Peoria to begin with.

I don't have Martin's scouting report off the top, but the chances are high that he was given a quick call-up to AAA because of proximity. It's probably the same situation for Yohan Gonzalez.

What's the Samardzija options situation? Does he have one more next year?

I imagine Samardzija's contract makes his options status pretty irrelevant.

He'd fly right through waivers if the Cubs wanted to send him down next year.

Didn't think of that. Although it is just a $2m deal correct? He'd probably be a perfect option for the Yankees to take given how they are always looking for bullpen scrubs.

According to Cots, Samardzija is making $3M this year, and has two team options totaling $6.5M for 2012 and 2013, so I think we can feel pretty confident that the 2011 number is $3M or a bit above that. Hard to imagine it'd be less than the 2010 number.

I just assumed the 5/10 contract was spread evenly. Looks like they have him making 3.5m next year. Could still be a candidate for a bigger market team with bullpen issues, but probably eliminates a decent amount of teams from taking the rist.

For everything below AA the official scorer calls in to MILB's New York headquarters after every half inning. They just say Ramirez flies to right, Jones groundball single to center, Lee infield single to shortstop, Perez 3 run homer to right etc...there is no designation for calling anything a linedrive. Hell even the groundball ones are misleading cause I bet half the scorers get it wrong if the ball bounces right on the edge of the OF grass...

Plus not everything is keyed in right by the MiLB people on the other end of the phone. We have to email in ER/scoring/hit/error mistakes 2-3 times a week...

exactly. Cause we had a day off Tuesday and they need pitching for the DH until Coleman threw a CG in game 1. Plus there isnt exactly a direct flight from Knoxville or Daytona. Gonzalez is already back with us after throwing 5 pitches last night.

Nathan, if you're still here...what's wrong with Jeffry Antigua and will he be back soon?

Thanks.
