Jeff Karstens, RHP (2-2, 4.60)

Pirates (26-50)

Ted Lilly, LHP (2-6, 3.28)

Cubs (33-43)

 

 

Pirates: Karstens battled through 5 1/3 innings in his last start, but was denied a third win when the Pirates' bullpen couldn't a two-run lead. Karstens wasn't lights out, but given that he was facing baseball's hottest team at the time, he did well in limiting Texas to two earned runs.

 

Cubs: Lilly did not get a decision in his last start June 24 against the Mariners. He gave up one run on five hits over six innings. He has only one win in his last 11 starts. The lefty is 0-2 with a 4.35 ERA in three games against the Pirates this season.

Have no problem with Byrd not playing, and Soto has started the last 4 games and with tomorrow being a day game he was going to be sat either tonight or tomorrow more than likely anyway.

I dont see how it's funny. Come on. NOne of the other [expletive] has been working. Soto was obv gonna have either tonight or tomorrow afternoon off..and Byrd was probably due a day off too. With 4 productive OF'ers and 3 spots - it's gonna happen eventually.

I imagine it will be because we can't score. Probably due to the fact that we will start crap like Theriot and Hill over way more productive players.

Hey Bob, Hill didn't slide because Lilly wasn't where he should have been telling Koyie to get down.

 

Yeah, you could see him owning up to it before Hill hit the dugout.
