brett jackson's ranks among the FSL leaders:

6th in batting average

2nd in OBP

2nd in SLG

1st in OPS

1st in runs

T1st in hits

T2nd in doubles

T2nd in triples

T15th in homers

T13th in RBI (not bad for a leadoff hitter)

1st in total bases

T1st in walks

T15th in SB

T5th in caught stealing

that's filling out the stat sheet.

In 12 games since the FSL All-Star game, Brett Jackson has hit.

.306/.370/.796 ........IF YOU DON'T INCLUDE HIS SINGLES!!!!

That's frickin' amazing.

If you do include those measily singles, you are looking at a near 1.500 OPS hitter in his last 12 games.

.469/.518/.959

McNutt won't be pitching for Peoria today. Per the Peoriachiefs twitter, he was promoted to Daytona today. Go Trey!

I think the news deserves its own thread. Robert Whitenack gets the start for Peoria.

Brett Jackson wasted little time getting used to AA, homering in his 2nd at bat.

if jackson keeps this up, one would think he'd have to rank pretty highly on overall prospect lists after this season. first round pick and two strong minor league seasons under his belt.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's #1 on the list.

On overall prospect lists!?

with cashner and castro gone i'd definitely put him #1 on the cubs' list... i could see him making top 25 on some overall lists.

tarlandas mitchell must throw mid 90s, because his control is just awful. 43 IP and 45 BB since signing with the cubs.

Yeah, Mitchell tops out at 96 despite being 5'8".

That'd be kind of crazy. He definitely has it in him to be a Top 10/Top 20 guy, though.

I meant the Cubs' list. I misread the post I was replying to.

jackson singled in the 8th to go 2-4... tenn has only 5 hits on the game and it seems like the opposing starter was pretty tough. the gamecast makes it look like jackson's second out (fly ball in the 6th) was very close to the LF wall. his home run was also oppo (LF).

DJ LeMehieu showing some power today with a double, homer, and 4 RBIs.

Also, Junior Lake with another two walks so far.

Brett Jackson is on fire. I'd definitely have him as 1 on the Cubs overall list and probably somewhere in the 25-35 range in all of baseball right now.

Here's a question to ponder though: If Colvin continues to hit and established himself as a legit starter, where is Jackson going to play? If he's ready by the end of next season(if not sooner) we'll have Soriano with 3 more years left on his deal, Byrd, who will have one year left, and Colvin. Trade Byrd at that point, since he's tradeable at least? Or push him to the 4th OFer role where he gets lots of at bats still? Maybe Soriano falls off bigtime next year? Little early to speculate obviously, but still.......We don't truly have a spot open right now and might not by then either.......

By the way, it's only been 75 at bats, but at 19 years old, Jae Hoon Ha is more than holding his own in Peoria. Maybe moving him back from behind the plate has eased his mind and the kid can rake......

He played with an injured wrist last season.

Good question - if we're fortunate enough that Colvin locks down an everyday starting job in RF and Jackson progresses to the point where we have to find a starting spot for him in 2012, I would think that Marlon Byrd becomes a 4th outfielder....if the Cubs are faced with this decision down the road, its certainly a good sign!
