Hawks tickets go on sale this monday (8/16) at 10AM.

I hope to God I can get tickets for the banner raising.

Me too, but I'm not counting on it. I'm prepared to fork over a pretty large sum on Stubhub.

Do me a favor guys, don't try for tickets to the banner raising game against Detroit because I want to go to that one, ok?

Oh...ok.

Pressed on whether he had declined a three-year, $8 million contract offer from Hawks general manager Stan Bowman that would have allowed him to stay in Chicago and establish himself on a Cup contender, Niemi asked to look ahead not back.

"I'm not going to comment on that," he said

He acknowledged it's possible he will have to join a team that already has a No. 1 goaltender and compete for a starting job again, a tough reality for a Cup-winning goalie. One thing Niemi ruled out was playing in Europe.

"The NHL is the only place I am willing to play," he said. "I don't know right now where, but I will play in the NHL."

I feel bad for the guy actually...I think he got some really horrible advice.

It's too bad. I feel for him as well.

I guess if he had it to do over again, he wouldn't have allowed himself to go to arby.

He should fire his agent...it seemed even before arby everything was being handled foolishly. I think they estimated 2 things wrong...how much the monkier "Stanley Cup winning goalie" was worth and how important it was for the Hawks (under pressure of the fans) to bring back Niemi at any cost.

That and it didn't help that the market was flooded was goalies and there just wasn't/isn't a big enough demand for Niemi outside of Chicago. I am going to really feel bad for him when he signs for like 1 year/1.5 million on another team.

If I don't get ring night tickets on Ticketmaster, I'm not going to be able to go anyway. I completely forgot that SIU's homecoming is that weekend and I've already made it a point to be there for a few days. Of course, that would certainly change if I could luck into a pair on October 9.

Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt Niemi would've liked to stay a Hawk. His agent tried money grabbing and it backfired.

you know, antti is a guy that might not be comfortable playing in a big city, or playing for a contender, or starting, or playing for lots of money.

he let his agent talk himself out of a career. i hope people were paying attention.

You people better lay off my opening night tickets.

Not a problem for me. I'll get to a couple Hawks games this year, but opening night isn't going to work for me.

Can you do more than one window?

Wow I guess not it kicked out my first window after I opened the second one.

Yeah, I don't mess with TM.

I have plenty of experience with the VWR, but not with TM. I assume it's just random how they let you in? Mine keeps going between a 2 and 3 minute wait.

Got through the line for it to tell me no groups of 4 left for 10/9. Then I had to start over to search for 2.

I've gotten zero singles left as well for the opener.
