Carpenter is giving up a higher amount of HRs these days, I believe due to age and losing a tick or two on his fastball (again, probably due to age). He doesn't really look like the same pitcher lately, but fortunately for Cards fans he's still been mostly effective.

 

His elevated HR rate makes me a bit apprehensive about him pitching at Wrigley today. Wind, blow in, please.
