5/9: COBS (Dempster) @ DBR (Leake) - 12:10 CDT (WGN)

Votto vs Leftys this year. 787OPS

Votto vs Rightys this year 1.072 OPS

Votto Career vs leftys 867 OPS

Votto Career vs Rightys 958 OPS

But hey "Votto hits leftys better" sure did sound good huh?

Should've said hits them well not better.

he hits them noticeably worse. so there is a built-in advantage to bringing in marshall. on top of the fact that demp was probably gassed.

it's just an awful non-move. there's no justification for it other than typical "gut feeling" garbage.

And Lous complete lack of trust in the bullpen even with the guys who have been good.

It dosnt matter if it was Dempster or Marshall. With 1st and 3rd and 2 out, there was no reason to pitch to one of the biggest Cub killers in the game. I know Rolens a decent hitter, but when it comes down to it, you walk Votto and take your chances with him.

I like Lou, I respect what he's done in his career; with that said, it's time for him to move on. You simply can't make that decision when every piece of information points to using Marshall. When a manager starts ignoring all the facts and starts using his "gut feeling" then he needs to take a vacation.

putting the go ahead run in scoring position is a bad move too.

Just a really bad road trip. I don't expect them to tear it up away from Wrigley but 1-5 against weaker opponents certainly makes me wonder if even .500 might be a little beyond where this group will end up.

At 140 million dollars, that's a disaster.

As a Card fan, I was hoping you guys would have taken two of three.

Go get 'em next time.

Ew. Why?

Meanwhile - the Cards finally have an offensive explosion...

...and it's done w/ Holliday, Rasmus, and Schumaker on the bench.

Yeesh. Apparently the cure to the offensive woes is to get the "big names" out of there and play the nobodies.

I dont know if Id consider Skippy a "big name", but I get what your saying. Cubs have a few big names who I wont mention who could stand to spend a game or 2 or 3 on the bench.

Reds are better than the Cubs.

FYI, there isn't going to be a whole lot of tolerance for "Sorry your team lost, I was hoping you'd win because you're not any good" remarks from opposing fans.

And by tolerance I mean you'll never post here again.

That may be true, but still

What a bad road trip. When are we actually going to start playing baseball?

Not this year. At least not with any consistency.

Rough going guys. Who gets canned first...Lou or Hendry?

Neither will be canned before the year is over unfortunately.

I think Hendry can and will be fired before the AS Break if this team doesn't turn around. As for Lou, I think he's here till the end of the season. He's the captain of this titantic, he should go down with the ship, imo.

But getting back to Hendry, my fear isn't him not getting fired, it's him making some pathethic trade to try and improve this team so that he can save his job. I can see him making his own Garland for Karchner type trade before he is fired.
