Man wish the Bulls had Hinrich now. Or Salmons.

People are mentioning Gilbert Arenas. That is a toughie. How much is left on his contract? If the Bulls could manage to get him, they just might be the second best team in the East and could definitely compete with Miami. But that is with the sane Arenas and he could blow up at any time.

The Heat have 5 players signed, the Bulls have 6 players signed. It's a little too early to rank the East. I think the Bulls with all their cap space could make a trade at some point to pick up someone. If not its a bunch of shooters.

If there's a SG out there that can hit 3s and play defense well enough to make up for Rose's deficiencies, I really like them next year.

I had to consult with Chuck Klosterman first, but if Michael Redd is healthy, he may be an option.

And it's true! ESPN says the Bulls have interest in a couple of white guys that shoot 3's and Michael Redd:

The Bulls held out hope until Thursday night's announcement that they had a chance to land James, but they already had a list of players to pursue if James chose another team. Among the players on that list are Mike Miller, Kyle Korver, J.J. Redick, Ronnie Brewer and Michael Redd, according to a person familiar with the situation.

He has an 18 million dollar player option for next year. I don't imagine him turning that down. I've heard he won't be ready for the start of the regular season. He just won't be the same player he used to be due to the injuries.

No Arenas. There's no reason to blow the cap space now just to say you used it. Keep building pieces that are available, and work on trades for quality players that won't look stupid down the line.

Why? Hinrich and Salmons aren't very good. We can replace them with guys that, you know, can make outside shots!

Who's playing SG for the Bulls next year?

KC Johnson's article mentioned Gilbert Arenas in a blurb. Anyone interested in that?

A healthy and motivated Areans is a badass on the court. Problem is he is owed something like $80 mill on his contract. The biggest concern tho is the fact that Arenas has only played 47 games over the past three years. Big red flag. When healthy he is a premier player. I would be interested but the Bulls would have to have some compensation for taking on Arenas contract, somebody like Nick Young, Al Thornton, or maybe Javale McGee would have to come with Arenas to make the deal worth it for the Bulls.

And if KC Johnson, aka The Bulls mouthpiece, is taking about it, then you know the Bulls have at least kicked the tires about Arenas. Again, it's a tough decision regarding possibly trading for Arenas, but if Washington offers up Young, Thornton, or McGee (I would assume Deng would be moved to a third team in this scenerio), I think the Bulls should bite.

Salmons opted out anyways and got a ridiculous contract, and Hinrich isn't good anymore.

I wonder if they'd ever consider calling Detroit about getting Ben Gordon back

The funny thing about the Bulls was, there was a rumor last summer that the Bulls were close to trading with Utah for Boozer. This was before BG went to the Pistons and all that.

Our starting 5 could have been

Rose

Gordon

Deng

Boozer

Noah

Basically we traded Salmons, Hinrich and Tyrus for Boozer.

I will never say that this was a bad decision for the Bulls. I thought for the most part they did a very good job of getting the team in the position they were in. Basically they had the best team on paper for him, unfortunately a human element stepped in and prevented it from happening. I'm just pointing the above out because it's funny. I really hope that whatever SG we get is more useful than Gordon.

Like? You might be able to find a shooter better than them, but not an overall better player.

Anthony Morrow is better. I'd rather have Kyle Korver than either of those guys too.

Arenas is an inefficient player, hasn't been relevant in the NBA for 4 years now, and is awful defensively. Plus, he'd blow all the remaining cap space. No, no, no.

We'll give you Rip instead in the 3-team trade with the Blazers. Come on, he's selfless, will move without the ball while Rose creates and doesn't need the ball in his hands.

I hope the Bulls go after Josh Childress, Anthony Morrow, and Ronnie Brewer/JJ Redick, along with a big that can spell Noah.

Udonis Haslem or Brendan Haywood would be nice coming off the bench, but if Drew Gooden got paid like he did, they'll price themselves out.

Probably right now that I think of Arenas defensively. Not Thibodeau's kind of player.

You'd really want John Salmons at 5/40?

Haywood got something like 6/$55 from the Mavs today.

Holy. Crap. Is there any big that Mark Cuban won't overpay for?

Apparently there's a rumor in Miami that Shaq will sign with the Heat for the minimum
