I should've mentioned + Thibodeau. He doesn't have the head coaching experience, but I think his defensive mind alone should add a couple wins.

It obviously hinges on what exactly Derrick's next step is. I'm guessing they're around a 50-53 win team next season.

Boozer is nice, but we need to swing a trade or somehow get somebody to play the 2guard effectively. I'd almost prefer a defensive specialist that can hit 3s.

And [expletive] D-Wade. That guy was playing Chicago all along.

All about the kids, right Dwyane? I hope his ex-wife gets custody.

Yeah, it could've been a legit concern, and then he felt it wasn't important enough, but he looks like a real scumbag with that.

The oddest thing about the Boozer deal is that it's not quite a max deal, and leaves just enough room for another max contract without having to unload any contracts. So at least the Bulls think they are still in play for LeBron.

This is what is confusing me about max deals. 5/80 is 16m per. Amare got 5/99.7 or nearly 20m per. The Atlanta guy got 6/119, nearly 20m per.

What the heck is a max contract? Is it fluid for every player?

not really, it's based on raises.

5/80 isn't nearly a max contract. i don't know how it's structured, but nba max contracts generally start at just over 16.5 for the first year and are subject to yearly raises, in year 6 can be worth just over 27 mil.

Probably to get LeBron to join them in Miami (which probably worked)

JA Adande was on espn radio saying the Bulls presentation bombed and they talked too much about trying to fill Jordan's shoes or something

I never really understood the whole shoe in a box thing. I'd want to be refuting the claims that he'll constantly be compared with Jordan here, not reinforce them

Ok, let's bet on the Bulls winning 60 games next year.

Who said anything about 60 wins? I see no reason to think they can't win 50 to 55. They should be in the hunt for a top 4 seed in the playoffs. Right now Boston and Orlando r prob better but other than those 2 I don't see a team clearly better than the Bulls especially if theu get a shooter.

You said you'd put them against any other team in the east. That sounds like a 60 win team to me.

I'd put the Heat, Celtics, and Magic as better, and the Bulls probably on the same level as the Hawks and Bucks.

Yes I'd put them against any team in the East in a 7 game series and think they have a legitimate shot at winning. Also how the [expletive] are you putting the Heat better than the Bulls, they have 4 damn players come on. Same level as Hawks and Bucks? I don't see how you can say that with a straight face.

Leo Burnett did that independently of the Bulls front office, so I'd hope that wouldn't be something that'd stop him from coming.

Jay Williams of ESPN claims that LeBron is going to the Knicks.

I know you don't actually believe this.

Bulls GM Gar Forman confirms 5-year Carlos Boozer deal via text, adds "number lower than reported," so less than $80M.

Even better. Now let's hope Lebron comes to Chicago or goes to rot in NY or NJ.

If LeBron wasn't going to Miami, why aren't the releasing the contract details on Wade/Bosh?

They're all going to the Heat.

Can't they not officially sign until tomorrow? Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

All the other contracts that have been agreed upon have had the contract details released pretty much right away. All except the Wade/Bosh ones

All this NY stuff is publicity to pump up the ratings of his special. I'm about 90% sure he was going to Miami. That's what I thought last night after Bosh's tweet and the announcement from LeBron.

Wait are you serious? I don't follow how a couple of meetings with the Bulls gives him leverage to convince lebron to take less money and stats in Miami.

That was a safe estimate. I think they could improve by more then 10 games, but going from 41 wins to about 46-48 wins especially with a rookie head coach seems to be about right.

Yep somewhere in the upper 40's, flirting with 50 sounds about right to me.

They won 41 games last year with Noah missing time, Rose hobbled for the first half of the year, and the worst tactical coach in the NBA. They just added one of the best interior scorers in basketball. Rose will get better. Noah will too. That's a lot of good stuff. The only loss is Hinrich and he's really not very good.

Hinrich isn't great but whoever they get at the 2 is probably only going to be a marginal improvement overall. Injuries are going to happen and Boozer has missed something like 138 games in the last 6 years.

They've put themselves in the mix to contend in the east, the level of which will depend on LeBron. I think they would have been better with Lee but I really like him in NJ.

Obviously the LeBron to New York or Chicago rumors abound. I heard that LeBron bought a two-million dollar condo in Chicago and that he changed the address for tax purposes of his foundation/marketing group to IL. Even if LeBron made up his mind, the Boozer signing must be enticing and could change it. The Bulls clearly have the most to offer now when you look at the entire package. If he wants to win, he will go to Chicago.

If the Bulls don't get LeBron and wind up with a slightly above average 2 guard, where does that put them in the east? Even if LeBron goes to Cleveland, the Bulls are better. Miami, Boston, Orlando, and Chicago could all take the east. Edited by Wilson A2000
