I haven't been able to listen to WGN Radio yet this year, but I heard that Ronnie is sounding far worse than ever. Is it time for him to go? Who would replace him?

Um no I mean his inability to be a good color commentator.

He's not markedly worse this season than in any past seasons.

Um. Ron is awesome.

Do you mean his health?

Ah ok. Well he's not getting replaced. And no, he's not good but he's entertaining.

Agreed. He's REALLY bad this season. Before it was just kind of goofy but now at times like it honestly seems like senility is creeping in. It's sad, really.

They will never fire him. It is pretty much his job until he quits.

Best guess to replace him would be someone like Randy Hundley or Keith Moreland.

Out of Keith Moreland, Randy Hundley, or Dave Otto, Moreland is the only one that doesn't make me want to murder kittens.

When Ron is no longer in the booth I really wish they'd just let Pat call the game on his own.

He wouldn't be bad by himself, but I think he and Moreland would be a great team.

Or just find someone to be Ron minus dementia. Not quite sure who that would be, find a former player who lives and dies with the team.

The last game I listened to on the radio was a few weeks ago, but I could barely even hear Ron. It sounded like he was standing 10 feet away from the mic and mumbling, while Pat was loud and clear.

Moreland's alright, but he sounds frighteningly like Tim McCarver, to the degree that it actually scares me.

I love listening to Ron, but I haven't hard him much this season. I hope he's not going downhill.

I do not like Otto. Moreland was pretty good from what I remember.

Does Bob Uecker have a partner or does he work alone? Part of my enjoyment in listening to Pat is his good natured mocking of Ron. But I heard Uecker again this weekend when he called an inning of the Cubs game and he was hilarious (by broadcaster standards) by himself. I wonder if Pat could pull that off or if he requires a foil.

This may not be important to some, but Pat's funniest moments are when he's zinging Ron about something, or being self-deprecating. I'm not sure he can really do that by himself.

I don't think Ron is going anywhere until a) he doesn't want to do it anymore, or b) his health won't allow him to do it anymore.

Uecker works with former Cubs post-game and 5th inning pbp man Corey Provis.

I listen to most games on the radio. Ron missed several games last week because of illness/he doesn't travel to NY. He doesn't sound any different now than years past. I'm usually the guy that says he needs to go, but...somehow....the guy has grown on me. He wears his allegiance on his sleeve and the guy bleeds cubbie blue. Sure he's not the greatest color guy on the radio, but the guy is a cub great and he continues to do good things for the community. He and Pat have great chemistry on the radio too and the broadcast is very good. IMO, Ronnie should be doing radio as long as he (and his health) permits.

Personally, I love Santo even though he can be goofy at times. He and Pat work very well together even when Ron goes off on some strange topic.

Santo is going to be one of those guys you either love or hate. I could def see fans of other teams not enjoying him at all. He's a homer but that's what is so great about him.

I'm really not sure how anyone who has listened to him beyond this year can think he doesn't sound noticeably worse. I'm not saying this slam him because I've enjoyed him in the booth, but he sounds completely lost most of the time.

Case in point: He asked Pat what inning it was tonight.

That said, I still don't really mind him because Pat is such a great PBP. I'm sure if I was an opposing team's fan, I'd hate listening to him.
