Dear God, Byrd's OBP is hideous.

I think Byrd has played better than his numbers show, I really do.

What, OBP-wise? How?

I'm not slamming the guy for it per se; more pointing out how ridiculous it is for him to be leading off.

The most frustrating thing about the Cubs offense the last few days has been the pitch selection and the idea that Ramirez has to swing for the fences on every swing no matter what the situation. Situational hitting has been atrocious. If you get a pitch that you can lift early in the count with a man on third and less than two outs go ahead and swing at it. But other than that you need to be much more selective.

More BA wise than OBP wise. He hasn't displayed much patience, but his BA seems like it should be higher because he's hit so many balls hard. Granted, that increases his OBP, but that's not really what I was going for.

I wish we could take Wells out right now, but I don't think there is anybody down there that would do better over the next inning or so besides Marshall or Marmol and that would just be stupid.

Ted Lilly update in Peoria: In the second, he struck out the leadoff batter, gave up a single, got Ryan Stovall to pop up and picked off the batter at first. Lilly retired the first two batters he faced in the third, then gave up a bloop single before getting a fly ball out to end the inning.
