Not so fast...

Mets prospect Ike Davis is batting fourth and playing first base for Triple-A Buffalo on Monday afternoon.

If he's going to be called up, it probably won't happen for another few days. The Mets are worried that the hype will outweigh Davis' performance once he reaches the big leagues and haven't officially decided whether to promote him this week. He's batting .364 through 10 games at Triple-A.

Just got a text message from ESPN saying he did get called. Must have been some miscommunication and mismanagement between the Mets FO and media, not surprising...

Hot damn, that is a stupid lineup.
Piniella said he was going to tinker a bit against left-handed pitchers to try to get the offense going after it scored just five runs in the final two games against the Astros, both losses.

According to Piniella, Marlon Byrd will move to the leadoff spot, Jeff Baker will hit second and Ryan Theriot, who had been hitting leadoff, will hit eighth, moving Geovany Soto up a slot to seventh. There's even the chance he'll move Xavier Nady into the cleanup spot. Get used to it because the Cubs also face Oliver Perez and Johan Santana in this series.

Yes, I know why. That just makes it even more stupid.

I'm a little weirded out that you like this.

Who said I like it? I have had a problem with the Cubs lineup for a while, but that's most about roster construction than order. It's a meaningless change and it makes absolutely no sense that people are so pissed off that Ryan Theriot is batting 8th. Of all the stupid crap Lou pulls, this doesn't even register.

Byrd might be the worst hitter in the lineup against LHP(not a bad thing with these 8), and he just got moved up to leadoff. Ramirez is hitting behind Nady. Soto is 7th, below Nady and Soriano. Because everyone is good at hitting LHP it's not going to kill them, but it's poorly put together, and endemic of the rash, small sample thinking that Lou's using.
