rose gets to the rim better than any point guard in the league, give him the same fouls that any next-tier star gets and he'll be moving on up to the first tier.

 

refs let lebron force his way on defenses like ben roethlisberger at a home for women with cerebral palsy. i would never expect the league to let a guy like derrick rose do that, i'm sorry.

There is plenty to support the idea that Rose is too good at getting to the basket to avoid the foul calls. He's so skilled at avoiding contact that it's ironically working to his detriment. It's one thing to gripe about guys getting calls for relatively minor contact, but another to expect someone to get calls when he's avoiding getting touched. Rose has definitely been mugged at times, but expecting him to get calls when he somehow twists his way around everyone in the lane like some kind of snake powered by evil magic is silly.

I think comparing him to LeBron in this respect is a poor idea, considering LeBron is what 6'8 260? And Rose is 6'3 190? When LeBron bullrushes the lane it's almost impossible to get out of the way. Either he's going to knock your ass on the ground or blow right through you for a dunk. And he's quick and agile enough to get to a point before anyone can charge him. He's just a freakish athlete with his size and the agility and speed of a person much smaller than him. It's hard not to foul him when he gets in there.

i don't see why this is so crazy, oscar robertson couldn't win it all until joining kareem AT THE HEIGHT OF HIS POWER. i think the bulls will be in a better position to put another verifiable star or superstar with rose.

Just looking at the stat line between the two, I don't see how it would be clear at all that Rondo is better than Rose, even currently. Certainly potential is on Rose's side.

The idea that Rondo could've led this Bulls team to a .500 record with all the injuries, cap space jettisons, and coaching nonsense is utterly laughable. He's not a #1 option on any decent team. He's a complimentary piece and he always will be.
