Greetings one and all from beautiful Nashville, TN !!!

It was great to see the CUBS score 4 runs in their last at bat to come from behind and win. Although the CUBS had scored 4 runs in their last at bat 3 times last year, none of them were come from behind wins. One game they lost, one game broke a tie, and one game they were already leading. The last time they scored 4 or more runs in their last AB to come from behind and win was in 2008, when they scored 5 in the 8th to beat the Phillies........

It was great to see them score in the 8th inning on another level, too. Prior to yesterday's game, the CUBS had scored only 2 of their 27 runs scored after the 5th inning !!! That practice has got to stop. On the other side of the ledger, the CUBS have now allowed a total of 41 runs in 8 games. 21 of the 41 runs allowed (half) have come in the 7th & 8th inning !! Late innings have just been brutal.

The Milwaukee Brewers' pitching staff is just what the doctor ordered for a slumping offense..........

.... as the CUBS put 100 points on their team OPS in just 2 games.

Meantime, the CUBS are seeing a good amount of pitches..........

"What?"

"Have you heard?"

"Heard what?"

"Oh man, you haven't heard?!?"

"Heard what?"

"Oh man I can't believe you haven't heard!"

"Heard WHAT?"

"That the B-b-b-bird, bird, bird, b-bird's the word...."

24 year old starter matt harrison just gave up a 3-run homer in the 8th inning to put the rangers behind the indians 3-2. granted the first two guys of the inning reached on errors, but is ron washington back on the nose candy? he'd thrown over 100 pitches coming into the inning (ended at 116) and you're leaving him in for that many pitches, in the 8th inning, to face the heart of the indians' lineup in april? great job.

I believe they have an organizational focus on getting their pitchers to be able to go deeper into games. To my knowledge, they don't put too much emphasis on pitch count. Not sure I'd completely put this one entirely on Washington.

yeah maybe that is the nolan ryan approach.

still, i would think that when it's early in the season and you're dealing with a young kid who's making his second start of the year and hit the DL three times last season, you'd probably want to show some discretion.

I would agree with you.

I think Nolan is going to find out that not everyone is able to do what his arm was able to do.

Edmonds almost left the yard, but winds up with a double. Fukudome almost caught it.

Very quiet game thread. I know it's a day game but there are usually more people here.
