Puck luck, as described above, really did favor the Flyers tonight.

Two of our three goals came on a deflection off a Flyers' stick and a weird play where it got caught in a defenseman's pants and he backed it into the net.

How much more puck luck do you want?

I'm not disagreeing, but seeing all the chances PHI got around the net on rebounds or bad/mishandled clearances and the Hawks're lucky that the Flyers didn't put a 10-spot on the board.

I do agree with you Kyle that Toews looks to be choking.

Even when we were getting all that pressure near the end he kept flubbing the puck. How many passes did he botch in the neutral zone?

I wasn't really ready to call it a choke until the end, I just knew other people would. But that was chokerriffic at the end.

Your posts between the 2nd and 3rd period suggest otherwise.

Or you could be wrong.

Either way, it won't prove anything.

I won't be wrong. I wasn't wrong tonight, was I?

1-for-1 in being right. I'll be right two more times and while you are feeling horrible that the Blackhawks lost, I'll be feeling horrible but also knowing that I was right.

Is that better? Well, not really. That's where it sort of breaks down...

If you, or anyone else, took this sort of mentality about a World Series between two random non-Cub teams all the stat geeks here would rightly be jumping down your throats about sample size and other stuff. This isn't so different then that.

Should I just shave the beard now and get it over with?

Yes. You look like an idiot.

Ouch! You are only the second person to say that! 17-2 now in favor of the beard.

Could you quote it?

The people who think Toews is choking are the same people who will blame Hossa for his Cup woes.

No doubt he's played poorly this series but there's nothing in Toews' career to indicate a "choke". I fully expect him to rebound in the last 3 games.

It's just a tied series, it's still good, it's still good.

I'm sure your image just meant "Go Hawks", though.

The stats geeks can shove it.

About to be six straight Final losses. This time after being up 2-0 at home, a position from which 31 of 33 teams have gone on to win, plus a third-period lead in game 3. The odds of winning from there had to be over 95%, and they are in the process of blowing it.

Cubs were in a position where stats geeks tell us they were more than 99% to win the NLCS and still lost. Then the stats geeks tell us it's incredibly improbable that any team could lose nine straight playoff games by multiple runs. But it happened.

Sit on it, stats geeks.

Reggie is just cheering them on to victory, I imagine.

It's not that he's playing poorly by his standards as much as that he's botching the simple play. He was flubbing the puck like crazy. Like I said, a Canadian playing in an American city for the Stanley Cup shouldn't be feeling that much pressure compared to what a Canadian would feel playing for Olympic gold IN Canada but it sure looks that way right now. But then he had guys like Crosby and Luongo getting the spotlight and now he's the man.

But those weren't luck, they were poor play. The goal off Versteeg's back, okay. Hammer making poor decisions/poor clearings are not luck. The Flyers keeping the Hawks off the net and controlling the rebounds aren't totally luck. A few of them yes, but a lot of it was good positioning on their part.

Improbable doesn't mean impossible. You're making an absolute fool of yourself here, Kyle.

And everyone prepare for the worst crowd ever at the UC on sunday. They will make Game 1 of the 08 NLDS look like a frenzied crowd.

God help us if they get an early lead.

Nope. The crowd is going to be awesome. We have a series now!

Yeah, scoring first will be very, very important. If the Flyers get a quick one or two goal lead the crowd could get ugly. If we get the first goal and hold the lead a while the crowd will turn frenzied.

I'm okay with that.

And with a large enough outlier, the chances that the estimation of odds is off is far more likely than just being a mere outlier.

Really though, if there's one guy I'm expecting a 180 from it's Toews.

Give it to the Flyers though. I didn't think a team that gave up the blue line as easily as they have could shut down this offense the way they have in the last 3 games.

I called for it tonight and was wrong so I have no cred, but Sunday is the night the Hawks put it together.

Either way the wait from Sunday to Wednesday is going to be awful.

Nah, I'm just jealous. I'll be 90 and still won't be able to grow a beard.

Now it has to be Game 7 for us to win it all at home. I don't even want to imagine such a scenario.

A game 7 OT win would be fun as hell. The game itself, not so much, but the end would be awesome.
