Game 1: 0 PP's for the Hawks, 4 for the Flyers.

Game 3: 3 PP's for each team.

Game 1: Despite 8 PIM shots are even at 32.

Game 3: Flyers outshoot the Hawks 32-27

Game 1: Hawks win faceoffs 40-24

Game 3: Flyers win faceoffs 34-28

Game 1: Hawks start sluggish in the 1st, even in the 2nd, win the 3rd.

Game 3: Hawks are dominated in the 3rd and OT.

But yes, you're right. Game 3 was clearly the Hawks best of the series and game 1 was clearly their worst. The freakouts are absurd. Especially coming from people saying a split in Philly would be great. They lost a [expletive] overtime game on the road against desperate team while playing terribly. Come on! It's the Stanley Cup against a resiliant and talented team. Anyone expecting a cakewalk was mistaken and I said the same after game 1. You knew the Flyers would keep coming and you knew tonight was going to be a total dogfight.

Game 3 of a series (NHL or NBA or MLB I guess) when the home team is up 2-0 is not time for a freakout.

Alright, I've had some time to step back and you know... it's the Stanley Cup Finals. We're up 2-1 against a team that I think everyone agrees is not as talented. We simply have to not let them take 3 of 4 games. I didn't think we were going to sweep to begin with so there's no need to panic too much.

It's not time to overreact that much by messing with your lines. Put Ladd in but don't change anything else.

who sits? Burish or Kopecky

We can keep talking about how we know they are less talented, but they haven't show it yet through 3 games. The reason everyone is freaking out is because they have to now accept that the Hawks aren't going to be able to just overwhelm the Flyers with their excess talent. Chicago sports fans are extremely bipolar, because we've seen disasters and chokes happen in the past. When times are good, they ignore all of those past ghosts and conclude that this team is different, and get cocky. Then when the team loses, they immediately draw comparisons to those past failures. That's just how the majority of us are. I am one of them. I was very cocky before this game, and I didn't care if I talked as if we were winning the Cup. In my mind, I'm not worried about being overconfident and jinxing them. But now I have doubt in my head. I am now not certain that we are taking home the puck. I still think we will but I am getting worried that we won't and this will all be another horrendous Chicago sports disappointment.

But overall I realize that we shouldn't be worried about that considering we are still in a great position to win this.

Burish should but it'll probably be Kopecky that ends up sitting.

Niemi has been amazing with low shots in the playoffs. Tonight not so much. Especially in the game winning goal. I have to see a replay, but in my recollection of the moment, it looked like it went right through the 5 hole. I'm probably wrong though.

It did, I think.

The reporters who were in the Hawks locker room said it took the Hawks a long time in general to gather themselves, and the overall mood was of considerable disappointment. I am not sure that their mood really matters or whatever, but it's interesting to hear how they felt after the game. I actually think that's good for them. They usually respond when they leave a game disappointed.

Even tho you want a sweep, losing a game on the road to a pretty good home team is not a bad thing. Considering that it took overtime for Flyers to finally beat the Hawks, cannot be a good thing for Philadelphia. Let's face facts Philly had a 7 game Stanley Cup Finals losing streak going, so it's naturally the law of averages catches up and allows them to finally win a Stanley Cup Final game.

Considering how bad and disappointed the Hawks feel after this game, alledgely, it wouldn't surprise if Game 4 is the game in which the Hawks just totally and systemically destroy the Flyers something like 6-1. I have no basis on that belief, but I fully expect the Hawks to come out on Saturday and beat the Flyers.

My thoughts:

-They may have needed this loss. Sometimes you start to feel bulletproof during a long win streak. This loss still has Philly in a precarious position (going down 3-1 is almost as bad as 3-0), and maybe can get the Hawks to start playing with some more urgency.

- I felt like the Hawks lacked urgency all night long. It was like they were waiting for things to happen instead of making them happen.

- There was some really sloppy passing going on. Maybe it was Philly's forecheck that was making it look that way, but they had several times where Philly had nothing to do with it...it was just a pass in front or behind each other that killed all the momentum of the rush.

- At least two of Philly's goals never touched the back of the net. They got pretty damn lucky on a couple of those goals.

Anyway, it sucks to lose (forgot what that was like), but I'm not really worried yet. I think we win on Friday night. Niemi is due for another "stand on his head" performance, and Kane is starting to break through.

You can call it overreaction if you want, but we are cooked. That's three straight games where the Flyers did whatever they wanted after the second period and we showed little to no ability to generate any sort of offense. Mark it down: Kane's goal was the high point, the series will never look that good again.

You must have watched a different game 1 third period than I did.

Not to mention we're a couple of post dingers away from having a bigger lead in game 3.

If we're counting posts, the Flyers would have won at least one of the first two games.

18 shots on goal in three third periods and six minutes of overtime. Disgusting.

i just can't take another one of my teams breaking my heart again. i just cant

I didn't watch a good portion of the Nashville series because I was just too keyed up about a first-round choke. I'm thinking about taking at least game 4 off, just to calm myself down.

i've thought about doing that too, but i'd never be able to. i'd end up turning it on to check the score after like a half hour and then never be able to stop.

i think it just sucked that it had to be an OT loss. a regular loss wouldn't have kicked me in the balls as much. but damn, we were one goal away from being almost a sure thing for the cup. instead, all we have is a series lead of the smallest margin.

let me ask you guys- if you could take a split over the next 2 games right now (putting us up 3-2 with 2 chances to clinch), would you take it? i think i would.

It's the way they lost, for me. The last 20 minutes of ice time was just sitting back, completely dominating, waiting for them to score. We couldn't even complete a simple breakout pass and they were skating through the neutral zone every single time.

Absolutely yes without a doubt.

Yes. I'll take anything other than a sudden, series-destroying Philly winning streak.

As opposed to what though? Would I take a split? Sure. I'd also take 2 wins.

I'd take anything that didn't result in the Blackhawks losing the series...
