Kane could learn a lot right now from Toews. I don't want to spoil the kid's fun, but I'm afraid he's gonna get himself into trouble. You don't see Toews doing this stupid [expletive].

Boers and Bernstein were talking about this yesterday. There's nothing wrong with partying and having fun right now but it sounds like some people are a little concerned. He could probably do without the cab driver and shirtless jokes also.

He starts owning faces next season, and nobody will even remember this crap.

Nothing I've seen, including going to a nightclub, has been trouble. But I do fear he could eventually do something stupid.

I'm not familiar with that one.

I'm not either, but I (think I) hope Kane does it. A lot.

This is what I'm talking about, along with the nightclubs, constant mentions of trying to get laid and being shitfaced at the parade/rally. The cabbie jokes were especially bad though.

This is what happens when you give a 21 year old built in the frat boy mold power, money, fame, and success. I know a lot of people who would have acted just like him in his shoes when they were 21. I am not saying I agree with it. It's souring me a little bit as a person and it's making me realize how much older I am than younger athletes. Kane seems like my wild out of control little brother, not the star that scored the Stanley Cup winning goal for the team I cheer for. You don't expect someone as young and immature as him to do stuff like that.

That said, by all accounts the kid is dedicated to hockey, works his ass off when it's time to work. Since Patrick Kane is not my friend or relative or generally someone I should give 2 craps about personally, I say let him do whatever he wants. If he wants to vomit backstage during a championship rally, whatever. If he wants to order 2 high end call girls up to his room on a random Saturday night in Chicago, I guess. As long as the "assaulting a cab driver" incidents are few and far between, then whatever. As long as he doesn't go off the deep end, he'll mature in a few years time. If he doesn't he'll probably end up Theo Fleurying himself out of the league.

Watch the TMZ video. Toews, Seabrook, and Keith are right there with Kane.

Yeah definitely poor taste regardless of how overblown that story was. I mean he brings it up indirectly and then immediately snaps at a reporter that makes a followup joke referencing it, and then the very next day gets hammered and makes a direct joke about the incident in front of 2 million people.

I'm sure there are a lot of immature young athletes around pro sports that act this way behind the scenes, but very few act this way in public. Kane is one of a kind.

I do worry that he's going to come into next season after a summer of debauchery unprepared and unmotivated. What are Kane's motivations? He's starting the first year of a huge extension, everyone he encounters worships him, he's already won the Stanley Cup, etc. I'm being really presumpuous about him here though so I'm not saying he's for sure going to be like this. I just wonder based on the people I know with similar personalities. Like I said before, I've never heard complaints about him on the ice, and obviously he's had to work his ass off to get to this point. Maybe we all think Kane is going to spend his summer in a drunken stupor, when in reality he's in the middle of a 2 week "We won the Stanley Cup!" bender, and then afterwards he's gonna come home to Buffalo and be a normal 21 year old hockey player who alternates between training, hanging out with his friends, and going out at night and enjoying himself.

Either way it just boggles my mind to think that the Hawks won the Stanley Cup with a team whose 10 best players are: 21,22,23,24,24,25,26,28,31,and 31

Overreaction on YET another minor story. So am I the only one who wouldn't be doing the same thing as Patrick Kane is doing? If I had score the winning goal in the Stanley Cup (hit a game winning HR in the WS, etc, etc) I woud be trying to break Wilt Chamberlain's off the court record in one night. Come on folk, let the kid run through he version of hood rats, and enjoy himself.

People are amazed about the maturity of Toews and wonder why Kane can't be mature like Toews. That's because he isn't Toews. I like the American Cowboy Kane personality he is showing. Kane will mature at his own timetable, or after a couple of paternity suits, whichever comes first.

Gooooo Kane, hit those hood rats.

I'd like to think I'd at least be a little cool about and not sloppily stampeding around like a white trash monster constantly on the verge of date rape.

I heard the Dent comments on the Danny Mac show. McNeil and Spiegel both thought those quotes were absolutely ridiculous, especially the part where he said the Hawks have to win three or four Cups to equal the Bears one title. Yeah, no.

No doubt the 1985 Bears and the 1995-96 Bulls were the most dominating champions in the city's history. But it's impossible to compare championships from different sports as to which one is "better" or "more rewarding" to the city. And in the end, who even gives a [expletive] as to who's the best champion in the city? All I care about is that we won the damn Cup this year and I'm still celebrating it right now. I knew some idiot was going to comment on the Hawks title with a response like that.

and it's not like the hawks were some lower seed that just got hot in the playoffs or something like that. they were a legitimately dominant team this season.

We all know which team winning a championship would be the most rewarding.......but it is also the team furthest from a championship. So ending the NHL's longest drough, and Chicago's 2nd current sports drought is prolly the "best" championship in city's history.

I'm not the guy who gets into race-baiting arguments, but I think it would be different if Kane weren't a blonde kid from Buffalo. If a black NBA/NFL player had the cab incident, was celebrating the cup mostly with his posse away from the team, had his shady cousin around the entire time and made some of his comments, average Chicago fan would have a completely different reaction.

lol what an absurd turn this thread has taken. let's watch video tapes of you idiots binging when you were 21. how idiotic to question the maturity of a 21-year old and compare him to Theo Fleury. Clearly celebrating an epic championship that is the pinnacle of your sport and doing coke after winning a hockey game in Columbus, OH are very similar things. lol

lol you're watching tmz videos and calling them the douchebags.

is that a serious post? it can't be

that's a pretty stupid thing to say. he posted a link of a video of our franchise player taking the stanley cup to a club less than a week after our team just won a championship. of course i'm going to watch it. what am i supposed to do, refuse to watch it because it happened to be posted on tmz.com? it's not like im searching videos on tmz. you watched the video too, right? exactly

and i'm not even trashing kane at all for this. i don't even care. but are you going to deny that he comes across as a douchebag frat boy? that's not even an insult, that's just pointing out the obvious. this isn't anything new.
