Muuuch more solid, sustained effort last night. Keep doing this and not much else will matter: the Preds will be down to hoping for lucky bounces and bad ref calls.

Pretty much, though I do think at this points the series goes six games. I expect we split in Nashville and then take Games 5 and 6.

Or, I'm completely wrong, the offense explodes and blows the doors off. Which has got to happen pretty soon.

Also, not having Campbell against these guys is brutal. He is exactly what we need against their forecheck. But I'm afraid even if he does come back late in the series he will be rusty and probably be a liability.

preds fans on that blog/board are making me hate the team even more. they're apparently convinced that the preds are completely in control and that the hawks "might make it a 7 game series".

they were also making fun of hossa and asking how much we are paying him. pretty funny, considering hossa was dominating every shift tonight.

What blog/board you talking about here?

Yeah I mean I could be wrong, but to me the effort and intensity looked night and day from Game 1 for a lot of the team, which makes me wonder why in the hell it wasn't there on Friday night.

Someone from NSBB was obviously posting in their game thread last night at the end. It was kind of funny.

That is pretty funny, but I don't see any reason to think it was someone from here. Regardless, he pretty much owned those morons.

What do you mean? It’s actually not even a Blackhawks board. it was a Cubs board with a Blackhawks thread. Somebody posted about a preds blog acting silly, so I googled “Nashville Predators Blog” and this was the first site. Really not very difficult at all.

They wouldn't be the first higher seed to be caught flat footed against a lower seed that happens to be playing pretty good hockey.

Let's just hope the Hawks now realize it will take a full effort to beat this club. They need to overcome some style/matchup difficulties here, but I think last night showed they can do that.

The biggest matchup difficulty isn't really matching up against any specific player but obviously Nashville's horrible style of play. It's very apparent how they had an even goal differential on the season this year.

The Hawks are much more talented than Nashville. They just have to continue to play like they did yesterday and everything will take care of itself.

are they not airing this game in Nashville? ESPN lists home, away and national TV options. A lot of them don't have a home and/or away, but they do have national. This game, and the next, is only being shown on csnc according to ESPN.

I watched part of game 2 on Fox Sports Tennessee. Not sure why ESPN doesn't list that.

The Predators' website says it's on FSN-TN.

Yeah, it's shown both games so far and will show tommorrow night's as well.

On a side note, I'm trying to use this series to get into hockey more. I've never been a fan, but I kinda want to be and these are the two teams in the NHL that I'm mildly interested in (Blackhawks because of this board, Predators because I've always lived around them).

I'm with you about trying to use this to get into hockey a bit. I've always had friends that liked hockey, and I've always enjoyed the local minor league teams...but I've just never really been into it...

But seeing the Blackhawks in the playoffs has piqued the interest.

I hope the Hawks make a good run and make you guys fans. I don't think anything can beat the intensity of the NHL playoffs once it gets late in a series. Even the first round.

I watched a little bit of the Blackhawks in last year's playoffs and then was more into the 3rd period of last night's game between the Hawks/Predators. I don't really completely get what's going on, but it was interesting, at least.

I can't decide who to root for in that series is the problem. I have more interest in the Predators since I'm much more familiar with the franchise itself, but I probably know more about the Blackhawk team from reading threads here. I guess the Preds being in the playoffs piqued my interest and then them playing the Blackhawks piqued it that much more.

Well, if you want to be on the winning side... :D)

As you have probably gathered, Nashville doesn't play a very exciting style of hockey. Mildly successful, but not fan-friendly at all.

Yeah, I've noticed the less-than-flattering comments on Nashville's style of play. :D

It looks like this could be a good contrast of style type series for me to compare the two styles of play. Help me learn the game, perhaps.

You can't really compare the two styles, because Nashville's style forces the Blackhawks to play differently than they would against most opponents.

For me, I actually understand the game. My roommate in college was a hockey superfan, and he bought an Xbox when it first came out, and NHL was about the only game we'd play for a long time. I actually learned a lot, but as soon as we went our seperate ways, I was done with hockey again.

I've watched some playoff games on occasion, but the Blackhawks being in the playoffs, and being highly regarded is definitely adding another level.

Yeah, I get some of the basics, but couldn't give you any strategies or anything like that. I've always been moderately interested in hockey, but never followed it at all.
