New banners on Wrigley exterior

I've seen such banners/exterior decor at other stadiums and liked it.

I think it looks OK.

I've seen stand alone banners, but not 8 packed in tightly around the marquee.

One year saw a game in Cleveland and they had very similar banners all around the outside. It wasn't really packed around the marquee like this though.

I think the Twins do something similar (though I haven't seen a game up there in awhile and can't totally remember).

Maybe I'm a sucker for advertisement but it does kind of get me excited for baseball -- which I'm sure is the intent.

Yeah, plus the long banner up higher....its just too much in a tight area.

The Twins did do something similar last year when I went there. They actually had a cool feel outside the ballpark before the games. Obviously that has changed now that they play at Target Field

So it's supposedly temporary, meant to built excitement for opening day and the Ricketts ownership, and they had to get permission for the temporary use.

That article mentions renovations including a new brick wall and sports bar -- anyone heard anything about these changes?

I guess I'll find out on Monday but I'm impatient

They had a new brick wall along the left field line (inside the park) and I believe the new bar was somewhere in the bleacher area.

I actually don't hate it. I love the "It's a [W]ay of life" thing up top. I'm iffy on the pictures but still, looks pretty cool.

You can't say you actually don't hate it, the pictures are iffy and it looks pretty cool. You can say it's bad, it's okay, or it's good.

It looks like crap here, even more crowded than the other angle. The banner is ridiculous, especially the dumb slogan.

It looks a little busy to me. It seems to me to also be kind of a waste of money, but I guess they want to show they are invested in Wrigley. I'm half surprised there isn't more advertisements, that's probably what I'd do.

Why can't say all that?

"don't hate it" indicates an overall favorable response towards the photos but not an overwhemling like.

"the pictures are iffy" one thing he's not favorable about is the actual pictures used on the banners. This is something that hinders him from truly loving the banners.

"it looks pretty cool", overall he thinks that hanging of the banners, including the horizontal banner that goes across the top of the marquee makes the exterior of the park look pretty cool.

I like the way that the pictures look and the look of the banner. It makes the park look somewhat updated.

I agree 100% with you in regard to the slogan. "It's a way of life?" makes Cub fans sound even more like losers. I realize that they had the W flag in the slogan, but it still doesn't fit a team that is equated with failure over the last 100 years or so and is coming off a disappointing season.

The pictures dominate everything. If they are iffy, it does not look pretty cool. And don't hate it is not overall favorable, it means not entirely negative. It's very obviously he doesn't think much of it, so saying it's cool at the end is pointless.

Aside from the fact that it looks like crap.

Not true. It could just be that he expected to hate it and doesn't.

People say, "I don't hate it," about things that they are surprised to like all the time.

Much better the the "Year 1" slogan all over the City.
