We're about two weeks away from the start of the season, yet he still can't throw the ball. Will Chad Tracy be the Opening Day starting 3B?

When did anyone stop worrying about Aramis?

Most definitely. Dislocated shoulder last season. Won't take live batting practice off his teammates this Spring Training. Triceps soreness.

It won't end until next year when he is with some other team. And even then my fondness for him will cause me to worry a bit. He will always be one of my favorite players to watch take an at-bat and it's hard not to care about the well-being of a quality guy like that.

Yeah if he misses the entire season I doubt he'll opt out of his contract. Unless the shoulder injury made him completely insane.

Well that's bad. I just read a CBS sports article that said Aramis' shoulder is all better.

Guess that's what I get for believing media reports.

Yes, that will definitely put a damper on things if he can't play up to his standards, both in terms of the Cubs' chances and in terms of me being excited about the team.

The two things have nothing to do with each other. He dislocated his left shoulder last year. He's dealing with a sore right triceps this year (IIRC, considering they're talking about it affecting his throwing, I think I'm right)... I'm pretty sure if this were the regular season, he'd be playing with it.

I don't see it really being an issue going into the season, but I suppose we'll see.

I think we worry about Aramis when both he and Lee put up .300 35hrs 120 Rbi seasons and decide to opt out to be free agents.

In which case we don't have to worry at all.

I dont know about that, I could see us going into next season Fonty 3B, Castro SS, Theriot 2B, 1B Baker if the other 2 walk. That way Hendry can have middle infielders at every position, that would be his wet dream.

I was referring more to the notion that Aramis and DLee both putting up .300/35HRs/120RBI as impossible.

I know you're mostly kidding, but I'm pretty sure if we lost $25 million in salary we'd find a way to replace it in the offseason. We could sign Dunn or Carlos Pena for 1B, but the 3B FA options are fairly poor. Either way we'd have the money to spend if we needed to pick up salary in a trade.

I agree, was just mocking Hendry's middle love for middle infielders. There will be some good options at 1B as free agents, I would still dabble with putting Soriano at first and go for a top tier left fielder, possibly even explore Adrian Gonzalez trades. I hope we do not lose Ramirez though.

Another interesting thought, what if the Cubs tank the first half and were in position to sell in July. They would have 2-3 very big pieces they could move.

I'm watching ARam for the first time today. . . .. .is it just me or does have a "don't give a crap" attitude? Maybe he'll turn it on during the regular season.

Seriously?

Honestly, when does Aramis 'look like' he gives a crap? He just has that look a lot of the time. I don't give a crap as long as he knocks the piss out of the ball.
