Let's assume that the Purdue students are more obnoxious (or whatever it is you hate about them). Do you have an explanation for why they are soooooooo much worse than every other student section in the nation?

No, I don't.

(And they're not as bad as Duke)

I can't stand when a team plays aggressive defense and hold and grabs a lot, but then the fans bitch when they are called for a foul or when the other team tries to do the same to them. It seems to be a quality shared by PU and Duke fans.

You're upset that a student section reacts to fouls against their team? Think about how irrational that is for a second. Do you really expect them all to just quietly sit down following a foul? There's always going to be a double standard no matter what team we're talking about. Just because Purdue tends to play aggressive defense with a lot of contact means their students need to act differently?

We just went through like 3 weeks ago. Student sections are homers and get upset about bad calls. Purdue students boo every [expletive] foul. There is no reason for Illinois to have a dislike of Purdue, but we all think your fans are the worst, and it takes a lot for us to hate something more than their Indiana or Iowa counterparts.

That Iowa-Minnesota game was one of the stranger games I've seen in a while. They played a 2-3 zone the entire game, mostly with a lineup of guys that are 6'4, 6'7, 6'9, 6'10 and 6'11 and mostly athletic. Iowa was able to get wide open 3's on most possessions but couldn't make anything. Gatens was 2-11 from 3 and I think maybe one might have been hurried. Iowa isn't a good shooting team but that was like shoot around in their own arena. It was hard to even get mad.

I don't mid some reaction. I hate how evertime a foul is called on Purdue they were cheated. Hell smack thought you were getting hosed today. It is ridiculous. you get called for more fouls because your guys hack.

They don't, and you have no good reason to think they do.

Typically, you will see an overreaction from the student section on the following:

1. A Purdue player tries to take a charge, and - rightly or wrongly - is called for a blocking foul.

2. An opposing player tries to take a charge, and - rightly or wrongly - gets the charge called.

3. Crappy little touch fouls out on the perimeter that would not have impacted anything had it not been called. I'm not talking about when Kelsey Barlow legitimately grabs/smacks some guy's wrist while he's dribbling. I'm talking about situations where there was very little, if any contact.

On the first two, most student sections get pissed when those types of calls don't go their way. As for item #3, these are being called more and more in Big Ten games, not just Purdue games, and pretty much all fans are complaining about it.

Unless you're Chris Kramer and you are given the freedom to maul the ball handler on the perimeter.

I wish Harris would have actually landed that elbow on him.

He did, but it wasn't nearly enough to knock him back 17 feet. Kramer sure as hell sold that one.

At least he's gone. Now he can go back to the cave he crawled out of and continue beating women with his club.

Yeah, I went from wondering if we'd ever score to cautiously optimistic with an 8 point lead to that WTF feeling. I'm glad I was watching it from the DVR.

I had second row seats for the game last night, and had a similar feeling. We just didn't have the size to establish anything in the post, and when the shots aren't falling, there was no way we could win that game, or stay in it for that matter.

Yeah, but he'll always be in our memories.

You'll have to explain that one to me.

Really?

The only thing that I come close to getting is that Kramer is licking his lips and looking off into the distance as Painter has his mouth wide open in a felatio-like fashion and is holding his hand in an open fist as if holding a penis. Only problem is it's very obvious that Kramer isn't looking at the invisible penis and that the invisible penis is not on trajectory for Painters mouth, so it's all quite a bit of a stretch.

Is that what you were going for?

Haha, the Illini fans on this board cry about the refs more than the Paint Crew ever will.

I make one comment because I saw some things I thought were missed and thats all you guys talk about. The hypocrisy is epic. Go back and read this thread. Sully and SSR have more posts bitching about Illinois getting fucked by refs than I've got posts, period. In all the threads I've ever posted in.
