chasson is at the dogfight in palo alto right now, and stanford's winning. bummer.

From what I've read of Chasson, I don't think a football game is going to sway him. He seems to be handling this in a very thoughtful manner.

Most basketball recruits aren't too affected either way by football games. It's just a way to show college life. I mean, it's not like schools like Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and UNC have much to offer in CFB games and they gets gobs of great recruits.

I'm not saying that it is or is not true (because I have no idea), but there is some strong back-channel smoke suggesting that Pearl either resigns or is fired Monday morning from Tennessee.

 

If true, this is a disaster of epic proportions for Tennessee, as his entire staff would go with him, and there is no chance at finding a good staff to get into place at this juncture.

Okay, it looks like it was nothing as of now. So, it looks like at least one more 20+ win season capped with a deep run in the NCAA Tourney before Tennessee gets hammered and Pearl gets canned.

Holy Crap, I just read all of the names that are going to be at Illinois' Midnight Madness. Pretty unreal. I am not sure what the hell Mike Shaw is waiting on, seems like he might want to be a part of what is going on in Champaign the next 5-8 years.

i'm absolutely certain that mike shaw has wanted to commit to the illini for a while though, but mac irvin has his hand out and is forcing him to wait. i'm also sure that the reason mycheal henry, tommy hamilton, and jabari parker all left the fire was due to irvin's anti-illini, pro-kickback stance.

 

shaw's not going to get big money wherever he goes, he's not in quincy miller's league. he might as well attend illinois, not get paid, but be part of a successful team and have a chance to hit the next level and make real money.

are you insinuating that going to a Baptist school in Waco, Texas is not something that a fine upstanding young man like Quincy Miller would like to do?

KU's 2011 recruiting has been pretty ass so far. We just got a commit from Naadir Tharpe. I guess when you put all your eggs in the Josiah Turner basket and ignore guys like Chaisson Randle, that's what you end up with.

Chasson, Chasson. Your recruiting is never really great at this point though in recent history. Self usually rebounds well though and finds a top rated kid who has verballed to a coach who got canned.
