And when Derrek hit that double in game 6, it was the moment I knew it was over. Your brain told you there was another game, but you knew.

Yeah. My brother was (and still is) the eternal optimist, and he got super pissed at me when I told him that the NCLS was over, and they might as well not even play Game 7 because no matter what, the Marlins would win.

He started yelling at me, and I took out my wallet and slapped a 20 (the entire contents of my wallet, which was a lot because I was a poor college student) down on the table. I said "If the Cubs win this game, this is yours. You don't owe me anything if they lose." When Kerry homered, he was bragging and wondering how he was going to spend his 20 bucks. All I did was look at him and say "just wait."

After the last out was made, he didn't talk to me the rest of the night.

Following me around from thread to thread seems to be the only thing you do around here these days.

Optimist, pessimist or otherwise, you had no idea whether the series was over or not. The loudest prediction was all yours was. Go look in a game thread, people like you love being the one who "called" the loss first, as if it is some sort of badge. Really though you are simply a loud mouth oaf, and putting it on display for everyone.

Nice to know I have fans. A tip: There IS an ignore button.

And why are you calling ME out on this when at least two other posters said they also thought it was over after Game 6? Yet I'm the one being singled out. I know, it's because I was the ONLY Cubs fan who was still hurt and frustrated by the previous night's loss, right? Everyone else was peachy keen after that and I was the only one pissed off. That's gotta be it.

People only remember the negative. If that's what you want to do, fine, but I do post optimistic and good things in game threads as well, like "I think Aram's going to homer here" or "excellent start for Wells today" or things to that effect.

I'm not going to say that I'm not vocal when I'm unhappy with how things are going, because I am very vocal. I have high expectations and i'm sick to death of waiting for a world series.I'm going to get called a liar about the optimistic stuff, and if you must call me out on it like some badge of honor, be my guest. However you choose to remember your game thread experience is just fine by me.

And getting back to the thread topic: The 20k game is my favorite baseball game of all time, and *gasp* I was actually CHEERING and OPTIMISTIC during that game and for pretty much the entire 1998 season! I know, I know. Big shocker. Feel free to mark this date on the calendar if you wish.

Whether that's true or not(it's not) he's right. This woe is me [expletive] is pathetic.

It's one thing to have a sense that the Cubs could very easily lose the series and another to profess to be a fan of the team and go out of your way to [expletive] all over other fans' optimism before the [expletive] game has even been played time and time again. Yeah, I remember going into Game 7 myself feeling like it wasn't gonna go well, but I didn't spend the time trying to make everyone around me as miserable as possible before the first pitch was even thrown. What's even the point in watching or following the games?

I really only had a passing interest in Game 7 and didn't watch much of it. I had the TV off and only checked the score a few times. And Game 6 was an extreme example. I'm not like that always in person. Sure, I criticize when they're not doing well, but I do yell and cheer just like anyone else.

Perception isn't always reality.

I honestly don't understand this. How the hell can you be a Cub fan and not watch game 7 of the NLCS. It would've been physically impossible for me to not watch that game.

1) You call me an idiot, yet you don't offer any "proof" to back up your claims

2) I find it funny that you would choose insults over logical, rational statement of facts in order to make me look bad.

3) Because I'm calling people out and defending myself, I'm an idiot? Interesting. My methods may lean more towards "sarcastic douche", but I don't think idiocy is among my faults.

4) Does "attack the argument, not the poster" even exist anymore? Anyone? Bueller?

5) Again, trying to get back on topic: Why does MLB Netowrk, with it's vast array of pretty much every MLB game ever televised, only show from a rotating cycle of about 12 "classic" MLB games?

I've never thought of you as sarcastic.

here's the proof you requested

Care to cite specific examples, or just copy and paste links?

No? Thought so.

Seeing as nobody here can actually back anything up, I'll consider the insults as nothing more than the rantings of imbeciles and leave it at that.

And with that, I'm done. Peace.

Because he knew, man.

Because he just knew.

I did too. Well, like 99%, anyway.

Of course, I can be a bit neurotic when it comes to these things. I watched game seven from start to finish, but I definitely had a sinking feeling the only briefly abated when Wood homered. Not watching game 7 is a bit ridiculous, but I can't imagine most fans didn't have a bad feeling after game 6.

I don't think fans of other teams would have felt much differently, either, had they been in our shoes. The whole thing just stank.

Oh, I definitely went into game 7 myself with an ominous, beaten feeling. That said, I also went into realizing the game still has to be played and none of this stuff is decided ahead of time.

It was better than the 2003 NCLS Game 6 ESPN Classic showed last night as part of their "Heartbreakers Marathon."

I saw that listing on the DVR guide.

ESPN Classic can eat me.

Highly doubt they could possibly be that hungry.

Love that sig. What part of the south did you say you were from again?

He may be from Iowa. That's what Ricky Stanzi (Iowa QB) said after he was asked a dumb ass question by the Fox reporter after winning the Orange Bowl.
