Cubs signed 3B Scott McClain to a minor league contract.

McClain is perhaps most remembered for getting his first major league home run at the age of 36 for the Giants back in 2008. He has 78 career at-bats in the majors and returns after a stint in Japan where he hit .244/.319/.423 with 19 home runs in 114 games. C Mark Johnson was resigned to a minor league deal as well.

He really is hard to kill off. He is the minor league version of Chad Fox.

What year did he start to dominate Spring Training and win a place in the hearts of this board? It was either 04 or 05. Feels like such a long time ago.

But they have different first names.

He's 38 and still getting deals to play in the minors. I would say his career can fittingly be called Die Hard.

I think its cool that he still goes out and tries. It is clear that he is not a major league talent, yet he still shows up to play ball every year at the age of 38. Good for him. Keep delaying the everyday rat race as long as you can.
