Baldelli is a no for me. Big health risk and he really isn't very good anymore even when he is healthy. Honestly Nady or Dye don't really appeal to me either. Health and defense are problems for both of them. We have a lot of bullpen arms in the minors, we could afford to deal one or two of them to a team with an excess of outfielders.

AZ Phil suggested if we offered Colvin and one of our young relievers(ie Caridad, Gray, Maine, Stevens, etc) we could probably get Spilborghs from the Rockies.....

Would the Rockies be interested in Colvin? They have a glutton of OF options, most of which are young and priced controlled for a while.

I wonder what the O's would ask for Pie? I think the Cubs gave up on him too soon and sold too low. It seems that the O's have a full OF though, and Pie should be expendable.

While I would like to have Pie back, considering we'd have to give up more(probably much more) to get him back one year later than when we dealt him, I doubt we're very inclined to think about it seriously......The egg on Hendry's face would be too much, in this case.

I think the whole idea of bringing in another OF is that it's a RH hitting one so that he can platoon with Kosuke and we have a RH option to spot start for Soriano (or longer if there is injury). One of Fuld/Colvin/Hoffpauir/Snyder(outside chance) will make the team so we will have our LH OF along with a defensive minded one if Fuld or Colvin make the team.

Depending on which young reliever (not Gray or Caridad), I would be all for the deal. I really don't think Colvin is going to end up as a regular with the Cubs.

If Hendry trades Colvin and a kid reliever for a completely replaceable guy like Spilborghs (and his new two-year contract!) when Baldelli, Nady, and Dye are available for one-year commitments, I may finally snap and kill him.
