Looks about right, although I think we'll see a minor move before camp. I kinda wish Baker didn't play so well last year. I think there's a good chance he's just a nice back-up infielder who got hot for a while. Maybe I'm wrong and they've been looking for a 2B but it looks like they're content with Baker/Fontenot.

Jeff Gray?

reliever we got from oakland in return for Miles + fox

Man do we need another starter...

Yes, it looks like a disaster waiting to happen. We better pray that Wells numbers last year were not a fluke and that at least one of the other 4 and 5 pitchers can have a break through year.

Refresh my memory...Ted Lilly is starting the year on the DL?

Probably.

Had his shoulder scoped in October, and is "likely to miss most of April"

Does Gray still have options?

Now that they have Silva, will they still try to keep Parisi from the rule 5 draft? Speaking of which, where does Patton start this season? AA? Iowa?

Jeff Gray has one option year remaining.

In fact, this year, we're lousy with relief pitchers with options remaining - Berg, Caridad, Gray, Patton, and Stevens. And those are just the ones with major league experience. There's also Gaub and Parker who are probably ready to contribute.

I assume that Hendry is going to sign or trade for a RH outfielder that can play RF against lefties so Lou has an option other than Fukudome. This will also give them a RH bat off the bench to go along with Hoff from the left side as the designated pinch hitters. Having a bench with Blanco and Fuld whose only real value is as defensive replacements seems a bit weak IMO.

Parisi will also most likely be given every chance to hold the 11th pitching spot like Patton did last year.

Did we jettison Nady already?

Why do you have Nady on the DL? Did I miss something?

Um. I knew that. :ninja:

I would imagine the thinking is that Nady's elbow potentially won't quite let him play the field by Opening Day and he might need the first week or two to let it finish healing.

Lou said that Castro is going to start the year in AAA. Are they trying to do that to save his arbitration years? I think it is a little too early to make this decision. I would have liked to have given a little more game time in Arizona to Castro first.

He's still 19 years old. It's a perfectly reasonable decision.

He's only had 122 ABs above A ball. He's probably unlikely to match what Theriot or Fontebaker can give us. There's no need for him on the big league team right now.

I liked it a lot better when the roster was made up so I could combine the names "Fontheriot" Maybe we'll get it back once Castro comes up...maybe

And what is he outperforms Fontenot doing ST? It wouldn't hurt to hold the decision until later.

Then Fontenot and Baker share time at second base to start the season.
