Week 15: Bears at Ravens, rescheduled for 3:15 on Fox

Anyone still think the receivers aren't a horrible, horrible unit?

I think with the right coaching staff, this receiver unit could be good.

With the routes and play design that Turner is calling, not so much.

The way I look at the coach/gm salary situation is this: sometimes profit and winning come into conflict. Sometimes, when you've taken the responsibility as owner, you need to decide which is more important. Are you more interested in producing a winner? Or are you willing to watch your team languish for money's sake?

The McCaskeys must make that decision. But food for thought: Bill Wirtz valued his bottom line more. History will judge him very, very harshly in terms of his ownership of the Hawks because of that.

Firing Turner does nothing but bring in another stop-gap OC as any quality OC would be hesitant to take this position next year knowing that Smith won't be here. If there's a quality OC avail. and there's teams competing for him, there's nothing the Bears could likely do to overcome the fact that another will be trying to build for the future while the Bears tread water.

As far as this core of WRs, they're not good but they're better than next year.

If you look at this team.

QB-still better than avg. despite this year from Cutler

HB-regressed to below avg.

WR-still sub-par despite improvements

TE-1st rd. disappointment and an aging Clark

OL-Awful

DL-below avg.

LB-Despite the injuries, best unit on this team.

DB-below avg.

They need to clean house but given their unlikely stance of paying coaches with time left especially at Lovie's current contract, I don't see them cleaning house.

I now have serious doubts about whether or not Cutler is the QB of the future. I mean, I'm sure he'll be here another couple years, but he has completely tanked the back half of this season, and unless they get an honest to goodness offensive guru in here to work with him, I don't see significant improvement coming. He's making horrible decisions.

Asked about the assumption money would play a role in his decision-making process, Angelo evaded the issue before making a statement that only will encourage Smith's critics.

"I'm not going to get into that,'' Angelo said. "At the end of the year we'll talk. I know we're not in the playoffs and obviously didn't meet expectations. We did have some problems and I want to make sure I focus on that first and foremost.

"I don't look at money in those times. It's not about money. It's about doing what we need to do to be a good football team.''

I'd like to see an offensive guy in here to work with him before I write him off. He's had a history of picks, but not at this pace. Not even close. Right now I'm still blaming a lot of it on Turner's offensive gameplanning, but maybe that's just me being in denial. I bought into Cutler-mania pretty hardcore.

He is trying to fire Lovie before he gets fired. But then again, wouldn't he need to get Ted Phillips' approval before doing that? And if the McCaskey's want Angelo out, they will fire him and Lovie before Angelo fires Lovie.

Tommie Harris: "We had a rough week. I'm going to use that as an excuse," Harris said. "I think that [changing the time of the game] does have something to do with it. ... Dude, it threw my whole week off, my preparation. I was out of sync. I don't know what happened anymore. At least my rookie year we played good defense."

Yeah...I wish he was worth something in trade value.

I don't know if it's a "baby" situation, but we've always known Tommie is mentally unstable. I think he's the one guy most capable of benefitting from a change in leadership (while Cutler is the one who could benefit most from a change in actual coaching).

There's just too much wrong with this team. Holes all over the place. I too am not too sure on Cutler anymore. He has looked REALLY bad as of late. He's not even throwing close to 200 yards anymore. Is it because he has lost confidence or has Lovie and Turner told him to dink and dunk? An entire overhaul is necessary at this point and as far as Tommie is concerned it's time to cut that overpaid bum.

Get that piece of [expletive] off this team. What a joke.

Based on what?

Hester has shown that even with a joke of a system he is a solid 2. Bennet has shown he has skills and ability to contribute on a weekly basis, Aromashamalamadoo is a nice option (although Cutler has done a horrible job telegraphing his targetting of the guy). Knox can be just as good a 2 as Hester. Who knows about Iglesias.

This team is a joke but all they had was a passing game earlier in the season, now Cutler has completely tanked and they have nothing. I think they need one impact receiver, and a real OC and they'd all be much more productive.

As I sat and watched a real football game on Sunday afternoon (Chargers/Bengals), I was able to occasionally see the scroll and watch the Ravens lead get bigger and bigger as the day wore on. I remember joking with my wife at one point, saying that I was proud of the Bears for holding the Ravens to 31 points as long as they have.

I'm not over this team, probably never will be, but I'm over this season. I'll watch them if they are on my tv (rarity for any crap team to get much tv time in this part of the country), but I won't be going to Sunday Ticket. A man can only absorb so much torture.

Being surrounded by Chargers fans, I hope they get what they have been deserving for all these years. To have loyal fans like theirs and have to tolerate the bad teams that they've had in most of their sports, it's high time they get rewarded. They have a pretty fun team to watch this year.

Lovie's press conference an hour and a half late. Could he be getting fired?

The last two weeks certainly provided more than enough reason, but I can't see that Christmas present happening just yet.

Yeah...what would be the point of firing him with 2 weeks left? Let him limp along. He's getting paid well enough to ride it out.

The point would be as an olive branch to the fans (Monday night could get really ugly, if not empty), and to give them an opportunity to talk to everybody that is available.

I never get the "what's the point of firing midseason" sentiments. And I can't believe that about a month ago there were media members essentially laughing at the notion that Lovie needed to go. This team has been a major disappointment since the Super Bowl, the only marginal positive was the Cutler trade, and that has been all but a disaster to this point.

I know you know this and it was an oversight in your list...but an upgraded OL is also a must.

I've been calling for that for years now, at this point it's almost painful to repeat.

Seriously, while everybody else was dying for the next great TE, I was begging for offensive line help and more than happy with Desmond Clark.

Great TEs can be incredibly valuable too. Too bad Olsen kind of sucks.

They can be, but they are also very rare. I'd much rather have a franchise tackle than tight end. Most "next big thing" TE's just wind up as role players and/or interchangable parts. And of course Chicago doesn't even try to get Olsen the ball in the red zone.

unless it's a fade route on 4th and goal from the 1.
