Figgins and Mariners close to deal

Recommended Posts

Thank God. Like SSR said, I'm surprised Hendry is gonna let him pass through his fingertips at that amount. He must have been too busy eating donuts and other fattening food to notice Figgins is going to sign. (Get it? Henry is fat so he's always eating so much that he can't do this job! hahahahaha)

Pretty good deal for the Mariners, at least for the first two years, in year three they'll be trying to trade him away. Its not a hell of a lot of money, its a slight overpay. I'm glad though because I'd rather have Hudson than figgins if the cubs had the money just because it would cost less and hudson is younger.

You guys are funny, I can't believe your all thanking god that Figgins is signe,d so we couldn't sign him. Do you guys pay attention to whats going on with the Cubs right now? The Cubs were never going to be players for Figgins. Not to mention Hendry has never went out and spent big money on a non power hitting leadoff hitter. Sometimes I think the Hendry bashing on here is just for entertainment purposes. Because exhaling over the fact the Figgins is signed is ridiculous.

Maybe he hasn't spent money on one, but he has over-traded for one (Pierre) which is probably just as fatal of an error.

Yes he did, but it's not like he signed Pierre to a big extension and was more then willing to let him to leave. The trade though was by far the worst trade Hendry made as GM though. Still that has nothing to do with Hendry being willing to offer big money to Figgins(or any leadoff hitter). Not to mention Hendry doesn't have that type of money to spend in the first place. All I'm saying is lets save our exhaling to when Hendry misses on out a free agent we don't want, that he's actually after. Sorry to ruin everybodys fun.

if figgins is going to sign for 4/36 and hendry isn't going to throw more money than that at him, i think we can all rest assured that we have no money whatsoever to spend this offseason.

except 7.5 mil on john grabow

We're only spending 3.75 on him this year, get it right!!!!!

Figgins has been worth an average of $17 million over the last three years. If he's anywhere near that over the next four years, that's a pretty good deal for the Mariners.

I would never give a player who is so reliant upon his speed for value a 4 year deal... especially a speed player over 30. One badly pulled hamstring and you've got no value left.
