It speculates that the Broncos might consider a player of equal value plus 3rd rounder (who on the Bears is of "equal value" to Marshall, that quote had me :-k ) or take a 1st rd pick in 2011 for him. Personally the only way this could work is if the Bears take Olsen move him to NE for their 47th pick (I think that is were it's at) and then flip that pick plus a 2nd rd pick in 2011 might be enough to trade for Marshall.

Well the percentage of players who dominate at any point in their careers is small. In the NFL it's very easy to get a younger/cheaper alternative because most of the money isn't guaranteed.

If a guy is great at 30 I wouldn't be deathly afraid that you couldn't get 3 or 4 good to great years out of him.

and judging by the careers of the guys mentioned and the fact that peppers's numbers are similar, peppers could very well produce at a high level for another 6-7 years.

A deal for free-agent safety Antrel Rolle could be in place within the next few hours, and source with knowledge of the situation told the Tribune that the Bears are actively involved in negotiations at this hour.

Free agent Chester Taylor is expected to sign a new contract within 48 hours.

We can rule the Texans out, and the Vikings are probably out the picture as well after failing to reach a deal. The Lions may be the front-runners as we head toward midnight.

Personally, I think this is Peppers' agent trying to engage several teams into a bidding war.

Good riddance. The Giants can take him for that price.

I posted that article, because I don't Peppers to Washington is even close to being done. Personally t wouldn't surprise me if the Bears, trying to beat tampering charges, told Peppers' agent to spread these rumors.

It wouldn't surprise me if Washington got him. Washington is the most profitable team in sports, their owner loves to spend on FAs and there is no salary cap next year. It's a no brainer.

Schefter was on ESPN and it seems to me like he thinks Peppers will be a Bear. He said a deal could get done right as free agency begins.

Real optimism brewing at Halas Hall right now. Free agency opens in 10 minutes and #Bears believe they will land Julius Peppers.

I can't remember ever waiting for FA to start because the Bears haven't ever been involved in the big names. Does anything happen tonight, or should I not bother waiting up?
