Definitely not watching the Orange Bowl or the Sugar Bowl.

I chuckle at those who think this is unfair to both teams. Is it what it is, and it should be a fun matchup. Edited by RedFlash

It's abit lame, but hey it should be a good game. I chuckle at those who think this is unfair to both teams. Is it what it is, and it should be a fun matchup.

It proves nothing, and doesn't gain the mid-majors any traction in the BCS

This IS unfair. Hell, TCU should be playing Bama. Congrats on your title because Texas won't beat you. TCU might have. Boise should be getting a shot at Florida. This is garbage.

Why isn't it unfair to both teams? They stuck the two non-BCS teams against each other so the big boys don't have to worry about getting embarrassed and smacked around by a non-BCS school like your boys at Alabama did last year.

Another year like this and I think they will be forced to change. This crap is old and I think this bowl season people are finally going stop supporting it (not watching the games).

Of course you chuckle. Alabama won't have a chance to be embarrassed again this year.

Cincinnati to the Sugar Bowl against Florida.

I have a dumb question. For BCS bowl games, besides the obvious games (OSU v. OU and BCS Championship game). Does each bowl decide who they want or does the BCS pick who plays who in the BCS bowls?

Maybe, but neither team are going to complain all that much, because let's face it they are playing in one of the major bowls. I do agree that both teams should be playing BCS conference teams, and the NCAA pull a cop out and put these two teams together.

And yes, I much rather have played TCU as I think they are a better team then Texas. We'd prolly would beat TCU, but I wouldn't guarantee it. As for taking a knock at Texas, don't. Blame the system, not the team. Texas took advantage of the same system that screwed them last yr.

The BCS is contracted for a while longer, I can't remember if their ESPN deal is four years or eight. I think it's four. In any case, we're stuck with it.

I think the bowls get to pick in cooperation with each other. I think that's how it works.

Iowa/Georgia Tech in the Who Gives a [expletive] Bowl.

The bowls pick the at large teams themselves, so blame the Fiesta for this. Apparently Boise-TCU pulled in some crazy TV ratings last year.

There's going to be like 4 people who aren't fans of Iowa or GTech who end up watching the Orange Bowl.

There's a selection process. The bowls rotate who has the 'first pick'. The first two picks go to the bowls who lose their contracted conference teams to the title game, then it rotates who goes next depending on the year. This year the Orange went first after the Sugar and Fiesta replaced their 'lost' teams.

That's the problem with the bowl system. Sure, the games are a boon for the schools and the alums have fun going and TV money flows in, but all but one of the games are absolutely meaningless.

I wasn't even really around for these days and I still miss them, if that makes any sense. I can only imagine what it would've been like to be around for the old New Year's Days.
