Any screen they could fit on a roof or whatever would be so small, it would be instantly obsolete; "ugly" obsolete like the CRT TVs hanging from the rafters, not "quaint" obsolete like the manual scoreboard.

Back on topic, the new spite fence looks like hell.

One of the things I personally enjoy the most about Wrigley is how little of an invasive presence advertising and other such antics have. Compared to all other ballparks, there is staggeringly little advertising when you look out over the field of play. Furthermore, games at Wrigley don't attempt to pack every second between innings or even pitches with side games, advertisements, and canned noise. I don't expect everyone to appreciate or enjoy that the same way I do, but to characterize me as someone who is a fan of Wrigley more than the team because I appreciate Wrigley's relative lack of intrusion on my baseball watching experience is way off base.

I would like to change my post to what TT said. He speaks for me on this issue.

how many times have you even been to wrigley?

Shhhhh.... grown-ups are talking.

And if you absolutely must know: 15

god forbid they add a jumbotron and ruin the experience that you pay 40 dollars for once every 3 years

There are far more people that watch the game on tv than at the game. Building something to block the people in Wrigley from seeing the ad is pretty silly. The big value to that board is the visibility when watching the game on the tele. I dont know how they are going to block that mass audience from seeing the board.

How many times do the TV cameras pan-out to see that ad? 3? 4 times per game?

You don't need to pan-out to see that ad, I'd guess it's visible dozens of times in any broadcast.

that must be fairly new, because I don't remember much (outside of "Jump") being played that wasn't on the organ. Then again, I haven't been to a game since the "Go, Cubs, Go!" nonsense started

Random normal mainstream music has been playing over that crappy PA for a hell of a lot longer than the Go Cubs Go stuff.

They played YMCA during a pitching change during one of the first games I went to in like 1996. They played Walkin on Sunshine (ugh) or Get Down Tonight after wins before the Go Cubs Go...

i know no one cares, but i've changed my opinion. bring on the ads and jumbotron. sure it's nice to be able to brag that we don't have all the whoring out of each inch of our favorite stadium, but, really, once hendry is gone and the cubs bring in a more competent gm, if the revenue is way up the club can spend more money on key players, both free agents and young international kids, as well as overpaying slot guys in the draft. i'd rather be able to brag about world series championships than the stadium. it's not like wrigley isn't going to be completely different in three years anyhow.

They can do what they want with Wrigley. I go maybe, three or four times a year. Most of my enjoyment of watching Cubs baseball comes from the comfort of my own home or at the sports bar.

That said, the aura of Wrigley Field, as neat as it may be, has meant nothing as far as the team winning championships go.

The ball park is hyped by fans as being this mecca, yet, the Cubs have yet to win a World Series since they began playing there.

I'm not taking away the experience and the fact that so many people enjoy it - to me, I care more about having a consistent winner each year. Some of the new stadiums are pretty nice. I wouldn't mind the Cubs starting new, winning traditions in a new park.

Also appears to be some masonic work being done down the line.

It's them, the tri-lateral commission and the Bildeburgers who are running the world!
