Haha. "trade expected in the next 5 to 7 days". What a great christmas present for all the Cub fans around the world. Carlos Silva and Scott Podsednik.

As much as i like the guy, Bruce Levine has really annoyed me this offseason. He continues to defense Hendry and acts as if this mess isn't hendry's fault. And then you have him updating ESPN 1000 every so often by saying he expects a bradley trade within the next few days.

Yeah, I'm not going to get too excited about this one unless it actually happens. I was just looking at Carlos Silva's stats. His contract has to be one of the worst ever. His stats look like a career AAA pitcher, to me.

The worst thing about Silva is that even his stats when on the Twins were mediocre at best that got hism his current contract.

I don't believe we'd trade Bradley for Silva. I'm chalking that one up to one of the other 100 other rumors with no basis.

Do you want to take that back or are you sticking by your statement:

Oh, please let me take it back, MLBTR posted a new rumor talking about it. Just click on the Milton Bradley tag at the bottom of the article and see 30 other rumors.

I agree, of Hendry did this then why not pick up Wells from Toronto? at least he's useful.

Wells is under contract for 5 more years and about a billion dollars (ok, so it's only $100 mil left). Absolutely not. I'd rather have Silva, at least he'll be gone in 2 years.

This is pretty much what Levine has always done.

I just looked at his minor league numbers and again I come to the same conclusion that he's nothing more than AAA filler AT BEST. His only redeeming quality is his walk rate. Other than that, he's just not good. Seattle doesn't even want him in there anymore. He sat out for a lengthy period last year with a supposed arm issue, and when he came back, they pitched him in relief and he got tagged badly.

I don't really care what kind of stats Silva has put up, I'll wait to judge until after I've seen him pitch with my own eyes. As long as he's a good guy I could totally live with it.

Whatever, whack job. :D

Silva carries himself like an ace; the rest will figure itself out.

The NL doesn't have a book on Silva, so I'm certain he'll take the whole league by surprise.

The NL can easily read it before the season starts.

According to the Seattle Times' Larry Stone, the Cubs have agreed to trade Milton Bradley to the Mariners for right-hander Carlos Silva.

Ehhh... Well I might be able to live with this trade, if we get say 8-10m back, and Silva has to earn a rotation spot going into spring training. But if it's just Bradley for Silva straight up and we don't get money or anything else. Well then this trade sucks for us.

Rotoworld chimes in:

It'll be interesting to see what kind of money is being exchanged. Silva, who is owed $24 million over the next two years, posted an 8.60 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 30 innings this past season and a 6.46 ERA in 153 1/3 innings the year before. Bradley, owed $21 million, batted a disappointing .257/.378/.397 this season with Chicago but is only one year removed from a career-best .321/.436/.563 batting line. For now, it appears the Mariners and GM Jack Zduriencik have pulled off another excellent deal.

WTF!!! Leave it to Hendry to do his best to make the Cubs a worse team than before! The biggest mistake ownership did was not get rid of this moron the moment they took over.
