An officer approached Lincecum’s 2006 Mercedes and smelled marijuana as the pitcher rolled down his window. Schatzel said Lincecum immediately complied with a request to hand over the drug and a marijuana pipe from the car’s center console.

The amount measured was 3.3 grams. Schatzel said police consider that a small amount for personal use, well below the maximum of 40 grams before possession is classified differently and carries a more severe penalty.

so why doesn't he get a dui or something?

I'm going to guess the kind of weed he can afford would probably smell plenty strong without him even taking it out of the bag.

Maybe he should introduce Geo to his guy with the non-munchies inducing stuff.

I guess I have a hard time of understanding why he would plead not guilty, if he, per the article, immediately complied the officer's request to hand over the drug and a marijuana pipe from the car’s center console, not to mention that he was tagged going 74 in a 60 MPH zone.

Hello? You know you are busted. Accept the responsibility and move on.

Negotiating; I'm sure his lawyer is working on a deal to get the charges knocked down.

It's all cute and funny when the white hippie dude gets caught, but imagine the [expletive] storm if this had been, say, Milton Bradley instead of Tim Lincecum....

Anyone who makes a big deal about anyone getting caught with weed deserves scorn, regardless of the race of the person that got caught.

If you are making a big deal about the weed alone, I agree, but if getting caught puts that person's availability in peril somehow whether it be by league suspension or jail, or especially if the weed was being used before or during driving, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with laying on the criticism.

my point was that the initial poster's attitude was "oh, that wacky Lincecum and his pot", where there are plenty of other players who would not be let off so easily in the same situation

cowherd said something similar to that. when lincecum gets caught, it's kind of funny, but when an nba player gets caught, the nba has a weed problem.

might have something to do with the fact that nba players get caught with weed all the time and the majority of nba players actually smoke it.

The moral of the story is don't go more than 10 mph over the speed limit. Who cares about weed, especially in California?

Milton Bradley should try some. It would mellow him out.

I can see why it's verboten in MLB. It must be insanely difficult to find the motivation to work out instead of G.I.Joe.

Kinda like when your poor and odd your crazy. But, if you are wealthy, you are just eccentric.
