paul johnson is a riverboat gambler.

edit - or not.

not sure what happens if tech loses this game; the acc coastal becomes a cluster-f*** of two-loss teams.

Flames has to be stoked right now. Southern Illinois is up 27-3 on South Dakota State at halftime. Assuming they don't slip up, they'll get a seed and at least two home games in the FCS playoffs.

Awesome performance on the road today. Plus Richmond just lost to Villanova, so we should be #2 at the worst. We're going to be very close to getting three home games as long as we don't slip up against Missouri St and SEMO.

Wow. I can't believe they went for it on 4th down. Crazy, but it worked.

I'm too lazy to figure out whether that's the correct call right now, but I'm pretty sure it is.

Penn State looked terrible, so what are you going to do? Terrible play calling, zero running game, no one open down field, and terrible special teams.

I'll be rooting hard for Iowa next week

Iowa is going to get killed next week if Stanzi is out. Their backup QB looked horrible today.

OSU's front 7 are really impressive. I don't know if their secondary is any good as Clark never threw it more than 5 yards all game

So (BCS) #4 Iowa, #8 Oregon, and #9 LSU lost. Only six undefeated teams (including TCU, Boise St.) are left and only one, one loss team left (Georgia Tech). If TCU / Boise St. go undefeated, is one of them going to get bumped by a two loss team for a BCS game?

The big winner today is likely Boise State. The Big 10 likely ruined their chances for a second bid. ND ruined a chance for theirs. That leaves space for both TCU and Boise to get into the BCS.

If those two stay undefeated, I have a hard time seeing either a potential 2 loss Iowa or a 2 loss Penn State team getting selected over them (or a 2 loss Wisconsin). I also can't see the Pittsburgh/Cincy loser getting in over them. In the ACC, you have maybe Ga Tech (if they lose the ACC title). And would they really select Oklahoma State without Bryant?

So unless they derail, I have a hard time seeing how they both don't get in. Bowl organizers will hate it, but it's going to be really tough to do anything else.

TCU's going to stay ahead of Boise if they both go undefeated and would be guaranteed a BCS berth. Oregon's loss hurts Boise so I do think they'd get bumped by certain 2 loss teams, yes.

SEC replay officials are criminal.

I agree. I think LSU got screwed on the pick/incompeletion, but c'mon man SEC officials have been criminals all season long, so it's not like they just started now. Besides, IMO this is karma for LSU. Remember that "excessive celebration" call pm AJ Green that was crap? The call change the momentum of the game in favor of the Tigers. (Yes, I know LSU was called with a bogus excessive celebration late in the game, but it didn't have the impact that the EC call against Green) So yes, IMO this is karma retribution for LSU.

With that said, I am in favor of the SEC making it mandatory that ALL of it's referees go back to "Ref school."

Hmm, you're right now that I look at the standings. USC is the only one that has the quality opponents ahead of it and enough sex appeal to derail a Boise bid I think.

Edit: MAYBE Arizona as they have Oregon, Cal, and USC remaining.

When I'm putting in both TCU and Boise, I'm also putting in USC. I think they are a lock unless they lose again.

I think the at-larges will be TCU, Boise, Alabama/Florida loser, and USC if those teams win out. What other team will be attractive enough?

I think you underestimate how much bowls are about money as opposed to football quality. IMO, a two loss Iowa, Penn St, Miami, etc. is an easy choice for a bowl over an undefeated Boise State. I don't think it's fair, or that those teams are even better than Boise, but that's how it usually goes. They might beat out someone like Cincinnati or Oklahoma State though.
