doc rivers is still whining about the perkins injury costing them the title?

"They still have not beaten our starting five. Our starting five against the Lakers starting five has a ring. Tell him don't forget that. We will be back strong and Perk (Kendrick Perkins(notes)) will be there next year if there's a game seven."

Well I know Boston hasn't beaten them with Artest, either

Kendrick Perkins is a hell of a lot more valuable to the Celtics than Bynum is to the Lakers

Ariza had just come back from an injury also.

I think someone's made this comparison already, but:

Scary.

LeBron James has pinpointed why he's become so unpopular: he's black.

"I think so at times. It's always, you know, a race factor," said James, according to a CNN transcript (at bottom of link).

He's right. Americans love hour-long self-promotional infomercials, but only if it's done by a white guy.

It's probably time for LeBron to get rid of his friends as all of his "people". He needs a new PR guy big time. Edited by illiniguy

The only issue I have with LeBron is the TV special. I have no problems with him wanting to go to a team where he felt he'd have the best chance of winning a title. I never did understand the criticism about him leaving Cleveland in pursuit of a title. Superstar players switch teams sometimes. They don't get half the flack that he did for it. But I can forgive him for the TV special and I'm willing to move on with my life. It seems a lot of people aren't, however.

Do you really believe that he didn't know where he was going until the day of his special? Or do you believe he's a lying bastard who was stretching things out because he loved the attention?

No, I thought he knew exactly where he was going.

Like I said, I didn't like the TV special and thought it was completely unnecessary. However, I have no issue with him leaving Cleveland in pursuit of a title like other people seem to, and I'm not going to hate him just for the poor decision of having the TV special.

It's not the decision to leave Cleveland that bothers me (I sure would have). I don't even begrudge him heading to Miami to play with his buddies, make mint and live the south beach life. And probably win a title or two along the way.

What bothers me was the grandstanding, posturing, lying and outright deceipt about his intentions for multiple weeks. All so unnecessary and obviously due to his ego and attention-loving self.

And I can certainly see your side of it and completely understand why you'd feel that way.

I guess we'll never know exactly when it came to be that Miami was a done deal, or if he was thinking about Chicago, the Knicks, etc when they courted him. If he was just stringing them along that really sucks. I don't begrudge anyone for thinking he's egotistical about the TV special, and if he really did know all along then it's deserved.

My main point though was that a lot of the LeBron hate seems like sour grapes because he didn't come to your favorite team. I'm not just talking about here on NSBB, I'm talking about everyone everywhere. Chicago would love him if he was a Bull. He'd be the toast of New York if he'd be a Knick. Everyone else would hate him still, but those particular fanbases would love him.

LeBron looked really good as usual. Screw that whole "these three might not be able to play together" garbage.

yes that was definitely put to rest after the first preseason game (where wade didn't even play)
