Other reports now have Vinny initiating the contact. He might also have had a physical altercation with Foreman. This could become an even more important story if Paxson loses his job and that delays the Bulls' plans to go after the free agent class this summer.

Paxson will not lose his job.

He could quit and "lose" his job.

I don't see him losing his job, especially if the news that came out that VDN was the aggressor is fact.

Either way, Paxson's not going to come away squeaky-clean from this whole situation. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he's forced to resign in the offseason.

Oh and the team post-deadline would've been the 5th or 6th seed if Rose and Noah were healthy the entire second half. If you had John Salmons and Tyrus Thomas post-deadline with Rose and Noah both missing extended time, this team would have been in a very similar spot. Again, no harm and definitely no foul by trading those two guys.

As for the series against the Cavs, I hope we're just competitive and hopefully we can steal a game. Finishing 41-41 this year after losing the team's leading scorer from a season ago as well as having Rose and especially Noah miss significant time down the stretch is definitely something that I can't really complain about. As much as I dislike his coaching abilities, Vinny did an adequate job this season.

The Celtics still had a chance of avoiding LeBron's engine of death until the conference finals.

lol. big words from a fan of the cleveland cavaliers.

lebron's "death machine" goes down before the finals and you cry yourself to sleep again.

Sorry, that only happens to your teams.

what only happens to my teams? being heavily favored against overlooked opponents and getting run like a bunch of circus clowns? no, that happens to the cavs.

and it never happened to the bulls.

What is with your Cavs hate?

you guys are just getting a little cocky for having won nothing, ever.

Of course Paxson won't come clean from this, but my guess is...the most severe punishment he'll face will be ceding alot of his authority over to Gar Forman, and Paxson becoming more of a consultant.

Sidenote: In two years as HC, VDN is 82-82 with two playoff appearances. He is the definition of an average to below average coach.

Don't think of these as playoffs as much as a chance to audition for LeBron. :)

You stole my line. :)

NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks and other teams hoarding salary-cap space got some good news Friday when they were told at the league's Board of Governors meeting that the projected 2010-11 salary cap will be $56.1 million.

That figure was $2 million to $3 million more than most teams had been expecting, and for the Knicks it ensures they have enough cap space this summer to sign two maximum-salary free agents.

"That's a lot of money. That's good," said Knicks president Donnie Walsh, who attended the meeting to learn the results of the Knicks' draft position through a tiebreaker.

Because of the worldwide economic downturn, the league had warned teams last July to expect the salary cap to be significantly lower -- perhaps as low as $51 million.

Other teams that will be positively affected by Friday's news include the Nets, Heat, Wizards, Bulls, Clippers and Timberwolves.

Too bad the Knicks will have plenty of money leftover. The only good player they are getting is Joe Johnson.

I could see the Knicks landing Joe Johnson AND Carlos Boozer and land that coveted 8th seed in the playoffs...

And that money also depends on them losing David Lee. If they don't end up with 2 elite FA's, they will have made a really dumb mistake in alienating Lee and losing him. Is Lee really that much less valuable than Chris Bosh? Especially if he comes cheaper?

I hope they audition well, but nobody in the media seems to think they have any chance at all with LeBron.

I don't think they do either, but honestly crazier things have happened, especially considering that none of the big FAs have really tipped their hands either way. I could see LeBron thinking Chicago all year while the media is talking Cleveland and NY, and then on July 1 shock the world by signing with the Bulls. Unlikely sure but impossible no

BTW, Wade made it pretty clear that Miami is going to have all the chance in the world to keep him. I think the quote was something like "I love Chicago, Chicago is my home but Miami is where my heart is".

Bosh hasn't been as direct but has made recent comments to suggest Toronto is definitely not out of the running.

I've also read that Lee wants to stay with the Knicks if they want him.

Should be interesting to see what really happens.

I would love to see that happen if for nothing else to see the epic meltdown by Knicks fans and the media who gave the Bulls no shot at landing LBJ. Not to mention it would effectively kill pro sports in Cleveland........

I agree. I almsot expect to see the Heat acquire someone like Amare Stoudemire very quickly after the season. I think the Bulls will and Bosh via S-N-T.
