There's pretty much no way Iowa loses the Big Ten now. Even if they lose to Ohio State, they hold the tie-breaker over Penn State. They'd have to lose 2 of their final 4 games. I don't see it

i don't get why everyone assumes florida/alabama would trounce iowa in a hypothetical nat'l championship game. people act like those two teams are in a class by themselves and i don't see it.

can't wait for manbearcub's gloating about this "great" win.

how isn't it a great win? michigan state is no, say, mississippi state.

mississippi st plays in the SEC, which is like the AA of the NFL so...

What exactly shows you that Iowa is such a good team and would be able to hang with Florida or Alabama?

I know it couldn't have been that 17-16 victory over Northern Iowa or that 24-21 victory over Arkansas State, both of which came at home. Neither Florida nor Alabama struggled against teams as weak as those two are.

Oregon State is putting up a good fight, at least offensively.

Mike Patrick is horrible.

I think Florida and Alabama are better, but not by much. I would love to see an Alabama/Iowa championship. Both play similar styles (not much offense and great defense).

LOL. Idiot announcers talking about starting up a Barkley for Heisman campaign.

And what makes you think Iowa can compete with those teams? Florida and Alabama don't have great offenses but the mighty Hawkeyes have struggled to win against UNI, Ark St, Michigan, and MSU.

I'll give credit to them, they keep winning games. But if they somehow make the title game, they're going to get lit up.

I don't think they'd get lit up. They've got a quality defense and a team like Alabama doesn't exactly have a great offense.

Iowa's more likely to get lit up by a team like Cincinnati or Oregon than they are Florida or Bama. Not to say UC/Oregon are better than those teams but it's just a styles thing (at least they way the Tide and Gators are playing offense now) at this point.
