No, really.

“Joe came up to me when we were celebrating on the field last night and said, `You want to manage tomorrow night?’ I said, `I’ll be here,’ and he said, “All right, you’re managing.”

Ausmus managed the Dodgers' regular season finale, complete with his own coaching staff of "bench coach" Mark Loretta, "hitting coach" Jim Thome and "bullpen coach" Jeff Weaver. Ausmus made the pitching changes, notified the home plate umpire of substitutions and changes and even inserted himself as a pinch-runner. And for his efforts, he was rewarded with a win.

One of those terrific bits of baseball minutiae that you can only find on the last day of the season.

I would have went out of my way to get thrown out. Pull an old-school Lou move and throw a base or something. I'd have to call his one game as a manager a fail as a result.

That's awesome. It would've been better if Torre made Manny the manager though.

He doesn't want to get suspended for the start of the playoffs.

If I was a Dodger fan, I'd prefer he did.

It would be interesting if more playoff teams did this on the last day of the season as a reward for making the playoffs. It would have been fun to see Z managing the Cubs the last day of last season.

He would have given the home plate ump a black guy.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Ausmus has a very successful career as a major league manager. His baseball IQ is undeniable. His real IQ isn't too bad either. I hear that Dartmouth is a pretty good school.

Sure, if you like the Ivy League experience.
