HAHAHAHAHAHAHA that looked like a tebow throw. He should've left tate in there

Just throwing it out there:

Tebow career completion %: 64.7

Career TD:INT ratio: 73:12

He's adequate, but when you spend your career throwing passes to Percy Harvin, Louis Murphy, Andre Caldwell and Cornelius Ingram it's not hard to be that productive. I think a large part of his success is his ability to run the football and defenses in college have to respect that. I think he's a good enough athlete to make NFL defenses respect that and make his arm play better than it really is. I just don't think he'll survive long enough to be a starter. His best shot is at someone who likes the Wildcat, and may see's 10-15 snaps a game as a true wildcat type QB. You give him more snaps than that he'll probably be split in two and we'll be picking pieces of him up.

Yeah, I'm not arguing that he'll translate into a great - or even possibly good - NFL quarterback. And it does help that he's had fantastic athletes to throw to throughout his career.

But, you don't put up those kinds of numbers against mostly very good defenses if you're making a bunch of terrible throws and can't throw deep. He's been very productive through the air in college.

Also - does this mean we can stop getting Forcier man-love jammed down our throats now? I felt like I was watching Outside the Lines for the first 3 quarters until the golden boy got benched.

This drive is a thing of beauty by Georgia Tech.

i find them fascinating, if for no reason than most teams in ncaa are going to passing offenses or the wildcat, while georgia tech has gone to the triple option flexbone. it's kinda fun.

Tim Tebow has thrown for more than 220 yards against SEC defenses in just one game the last two years. They lost that game too.

He can't throw deep, unless they are wide open, and he makes a bunch of terrible throws, unless they are wide open

and demaryius thomas will probably be the most productive WR on any of the teams.

Pure yardage isn't the best way to gauge his performance because Florida takes big leads so often he doesn't need to throw deep that often. He can make the deep throws, though he's not great at them. He is quite accurate and is a good decision maker, though.

I've watched a large portion of Florida's games since Tebow has been there and I haven't seen evidence of this at all. The numbers don't back it up either. Are his receivers wide open 60+% of the time?

tim tebow must have more open receivers than anyone in the history of college football, because his passing numbers do not jive with your evaluation of him.

He does. People cheat up on the line to stop the run and all the receivers get one on one coverage. In the LSU game he had a wide open receiver in the end zone and under threw him by five to ten yards for a pick. I wish bradford had his receivers, he would throw for 500 a game

Florida does get receivers alone in space very well, but not to the extent they'd have to for him to only be good on wide open throws and still complete nearly 65% of his throws.

it's gotta be tough to evaluate a WR coming out of this offense, but thomas is a good athlete and a big guy, and he's probably going to be a really good blocker having gotten so much practice at it.

That's why he's such a great player at the college level. His running the game allows him to be productive as a passer, but without it he has not shown he can come close to that level. Against Georgia a few years ago when he had to be a pocket passer he was essentially useless as a passer.

In all honesty I think Tennessee might be getting more receivers wide open this year than Florida is. Tebow's receivers aren't as good this year as they have been.

His only TD (the only TD of the game) came when Florida's wideout got away with a pretty blatant jersey grab of the LSU DB. I saw at least one or two other passes of decent length to wide-open receivers.

Tebow throws the deep ball just as well as JaMarcus Russell, i.e. to wide open receivers who have beaten their man by 3 steps.

the game they lost 42-30 when he was 14/22 with 236 yards and 1 TD, 0 INT? if anything he was useless as a runner in that game, not a passer.

Seems like a good TE/Slot hybrid that a lot of NFL teams look for now. Obviously will never be a running TE, but could hold his own at the position and would be an obvious mismatch against almost every linebacker in the league.

he was banged up and and protecting his shoulder or leg or something. he wasn't nearly productive in that game as he was in other games that year. he was sacked a ton, wasn't he?

don't know, he ran for negative yardage though, which probably means a bunch of sacks.

dammit tech. there's still a really fun game on espn2 if you haven't gotten your fill of college fb yet, folks.

I do have to say, with all this talk about QBs, Jonathan Crompton had a fantastic game today. Part of it was Georgia's terrible defense, I'm sure, but Crompton looked poised and very accurate all day. He made good decisions with almost every throw and showed why he was the #2 rated pro-style QB in his recruiting class.

This was a huge win for Tennessee as it sets us up to only need to beat Memphis, Vandy and Kentucky to be bowl eligible. If Crompton continues to play like he did today, though, we could compete with Alabama and beat South Carolina. I'm not ready to really consider that, though.

I'm really happy for Crompton, though. He was due a game like this at some point.

I wish Rich had gotten pissy with Forcier and put Denard Robinson in against us. Michigan's collapse would've begun much sooner.
